Zara Tindall has welcomed a brand new baby boy!
Amid the UK’s lockdown, the 39-year-old, who is the daughter of Princess Anne, welcomed her little son on Sunday evening with husband Mike Tindall by her side… on the bathroom floor of her home.
Speaking on his podcast, The Good, The Bad & The Rugby, Mike revealed the gorgeous name, Lucas Philip Tindall, and some extra, rather quirky details from the labour.
During the show, which he hosts with several other rugby personalities in the UK, Mike told them his eldest daughter Mia, aged seven, was “over the moon” to have a little brother.
Their second child Lena, aged two, had a slightly different reaction – she called Lucas “her baby”. Cute!
Detailing the experience of the home birth further, Mike told the podcast, “Sunday got even better because a little baby boy arrived at my house.”
“Arrived very quickly. Didn’t make it to hospital. On the bathroom floor. So yeah, it was running to the gym, get a mat, get into the bathroom, get the mat on the floor, towels down, brace, brace, brace.”
He explained that Zara’s pal Dolly was there this time as she lived closeby.
“Fortunately the midwife who was going to meet us at the hospital wasn’t that far away so she drove up just as we had assumed the posit (position) and the second midwife arrived just after the head had arrived.”
The Queen quickly released a statement in the wake of the announcement on Wednesday, saying: “The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh are delighted with the news and look forward to meeting their 10th Great Grandchild when circumstances allow.”
It’s certainly been a busy time for the royals – Eugenie welcomed her own baby son in February, while Duchess Meghan is expecting her own little one in the British summer.
Looks like Lucas will have plenty of cousins to run around with!
