At 91 years old, Queen Elizabeth is a forced to be reckoned with, still working as a full-time royal and holding private audiences with important dignitaries.
Throughout her record-breaking reign, she’s always found comfort and solace in her beloved pack of pet corgis.
And it was no different on Wednesday, April 11th during an audience with the Commonwealth Secretary-Genera, Baroness Patricia Scotland in the Oak Room at Windsor Castle, in Windsor.
The two ladies met ahead of the Commonwealth Heads of Government event in London next week and they were joined by a very cute VIP guest – one of the Queen’s dogs!
In a heartwarming snap shared via the Royal Family’s Instagram page, The Queen and the Baroness can be seen chatting in a red-carpeted drawing room as the pup trots along towards them.
“Ahead of #CHOGM2018, The Queen today received The Commonwealth Secretary-General, the Baroness Scotland of Asthal,” the statement read.
“Members of The Royal Family will attend several Commonwealth Heads of Government events during #CHOGM2018, which is being held in London next week. #CHOGM2018 brings together leaders from all member countries of the Commonwealth, as well as young people, business men and women and community leaders,” it concluded.
Corgis have been part of The Queen’s life since she was a little girl.
According to HELLO! the pup-crasher in question is a little fellow called Whisper, who Her Majesty adopted from her gatekeeper Bill Fenwick after he passed away at the start of 2017.
It is understood that the Queen had originally gifted Bill with Whisper.
“The Queen has always had Corgis, but she made the decision four years ago not to breed anymore because she didn’t want to have a bad fall,” a friend told The Sun at the time.
Curious Whisper, who The Queen adopted from a staff member last year, crashes the meeting.
“She was also concerned dogs might be left without an owner if anything happened to her. But she couldn’t resist Whisper, and now she has asked Bill’s family if she can keep him.”
Whisper is part of a pack of The Queen’s much-loved and well-pampered pups including a corgi called Willow, and her two corgi-dachshund crosses (dorgis), Vulcan and Candy.
The royal was given her first-ever corgi, Susan, for her 18th birthday back in 1944, and she once famously confessed, “My corgis are family.”
