The end of a year and the start of a new one can make us all a little nostalgic – including the Queen herself it seems.
In a stunning video shared by Buckingham Palace, Queen Elizabeth’s most memorable moments of the year are featured in a series of pictures.
And while there are a plethora of beautiful photos to feast our eyes on – not least for the explosion of colours brought about by Elizabeth’s penchant for a bold and bright ensemble – there was one picture in particular that we couldn’t look away from.
While Meghan and Harry’s royal wedding, Fashion Week with Anna Wintour and even her meeting with US President Donald Trump are to be expected to make the Queen’s ‘most memorable’ list, there was another, rather smaller occasion that proves just how fond the Queen is of Meghan.
A picture of the pair smiling as they attended their first official outing together in June is included in the video, and it’s the sweetest gesture from the Queen!
The event in question was the pair’s first joint engagement in Cheshire back in June, and it was clear that they had well and truly hit it off – not least from their frequent fits of giggles!
What’s more, the Queen and Meghan travelled to the event on in the 92-year-old’s very own personal train, which is only ever used for top-tier senior royals.
It said a lot about the Queen’s feelings towards Meghan – Prince Charles, Prince Philip and the Duchess of Cornwall so far are the only members of the family to have been bestowed the honour of riding on the train.

A number of images from the event swept the world quickly as royal fans revelled in seeing Meghan and The Queen hit it off so seamlessly.
For the event, the Queen wore green in honour of the Grenfell Tower fire victims on the first anniversary of the tragedy, meanwhile, the ever-stylish Duchess wore an elegant cream fitted dress by Givenchy.

In the Queen’s 2018 wrap up video, a number of other images of the royal family are featured.
Along with her front row appearance at London Fashion Week, the Queen’s Dutch State Visit and Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank’s royal wedding are among her most memorable moments.
There’s no denying the closeness of the royal family, who recently put on a united front as they stepped out for Christmas Day at Sandringham.
Along with the Queen herself, Princes William and Harry and Duchesses Catherine and Meghan were in attendance, as were Princess Eugenie and her new husband Jack Brooksbank.
And while the younger royals have since headed their separate ways from Sandringham while the Queen stays on, we’re confident she was thrilled to have the family together for the festive occasion.
