It would be safe to say that welcoming a baby is one of the most emotional experiences of one’s life – and for Prince Harry, this couldn’t ring truer.
Just seeing the brand new dad’s face on May 6, mere hours after his wife Duchess Meghan gave birth to their first child, Archie, was case in point.
As he spoke to media in an impromptu interview, it was clear the new dad was feeling all kinds of emotions.
Now, just a few days later, Prince Harry has stepped out once again – and what he had to say about baby Archie will tug at your heartstrings.
Attending The Hague in the Netherlands to launch the one-year countdown to the Invictus Games, the Prince was out in full force as he chatted animatedly with attendee’s, who were more than willing to oblige in talk about all things baby.
For Harry, it was clear that the emotional events of the week had him thinking about his own childhood, and in a rare moment, he opened up about it.
Speaking to a former soldier Dennis van der Stroon, Harry talked about the tragic loss of his mother.
“[Prince Harry] said missing a mother is like missing some kind of security, how you need that as a son and it falls away when you lose your mother,” van der Stroon told The Daily Mail.
“He said he meets a lot of people in his work who have lost a mother, father, sister, brother or relatives and when he hears their story, as he heard my story, he said he doesn’t feel so alone.”
He also said his brand new son had given him a new focus in life, with van der Stroon adding: “Harry talked about how having a small child was his new focus and new goal and I told him how a couple of months ago, I was struggling with my mental health but my wife’s pregnancy has given me a goal.”
Harry also reportedly told the ex-soldier that he was “amazed by the miracles in the world” and that he was aware his new child had made people happy.
Too right he has! We can’t stop looking at the new pictures of Archie!
Prince Harry was showered in baby gifts on his first outing as a new dad.
His on-brand Invictus Games outfit itself had a special addition “Daddy” on its logo, while he was also presented with an adorable tiny onesie featuring the Invictus Games logo from Princess Margriet.
The proud dad looked thrilled as he held up the onesie with pride.

Indeed it seems the gifts will keep on coming for Prince Harry and Meghan’s newest addition – earlier today Disney released an adorable animation as a gift for Harry and Meghan.
The short features an adorable Winnie the Pooh travelling to Windsor Castle where he presents a book to the royal couple as they sit next to a rocking cot emblazoned with the words ‘Archie’.
The watercolour animation was created by Disney’s Senior Principal Artist, Kim Raymond.

The tales of Winnie the Pooh are known to be close to Harry and Meghan’s hearts, with the Duke reportedly having purchased a rare first edition A.A. Milne book for Prince Louis, gifting it to him at his Christening last year.
Meanwhile, Meghan once wrote on her now defunct blog The Tig that Winnie the Pooh was her favourite book.
While on his short visit to the Netherlands, Prince Harry also revealed his new son had so far been very quiet – lucky parents!
On the day following the birth of Archie, it was reported that the new parents had an “emotional” first night as a family of three.
Speaking at their official debut as a family on Thursday, Prince Harry elaborated.
“It’s only been two and a half days, three days, but we’re just so thrilled to have our own little bundle of joy and to be able to spend some precious times with him as he slowly starts to grow up.”
We can’t wait to see him grow up ourselves! He’s certainly in the best hands with parents like Harry and Meghan.
