Prince Harry’s long-awaited memoir is under fire again, as new information claims he sought out his ex-girlfriends after being told his book needed more ‘sex’.
After his publishers Penguin Random House reportedly informed the Duke of Sussex that his book titled Spare was not spicy enough, he asked friends and his former flames to speak to ghostwriter JR Moehringer.
A source informed The Sun that most of those talked to were ‘stunned’ by the request and politely declined.
“Friends and girlfriends were polite and said they would think about it but ultimately most said ‘no’,” the source said.
“It was felt to be kind of ironic that Harry would hit the roof if he ever had an inkling they spoke to the media, but now he wants them to when he needs their help.”
Although it wasn’t confirmed who Prince Harry reached out to, the young prince did more recently – before his wife Meghan Markle – date Cressida Bonas for two years and dated Chelsy David from 2004 to 2010.
Both have which avoided talking about their relationship in the media since.
The source revealed the publishers “wanted more than was in the first draft” and Prince Harry wanted to “refine” his memoir following his grandmother Queen Elizabeth’s passing in early September.
However, the publishers allegedly want Prince Harry to provide “more detail on some things that were already included” after claims revealed Prince Harry had to sumbit his memoir more than once due to the details not being interesting enough.
The 416-page memoir is believed to make a rough “family Christmas” for the British royal family another source told the Daily Mail: “The book is much worse than people think.”
No members of the British royal family have seen the manuscript, nor have their legal advisers. Palace aides reportedly were scrambling to find a way to stop Harry’s tell-all memoir as King Charles III attempted to establish his reign and new reputation.
The memoir will be released January 10 next year and Prince Harry could briefly travel to the United Kingdom around that time for a publicity tour but it has not yet been confirmed.
