Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex have a big week ahead of them as both royals’ schedules are filled up with solo plans.
The Duke of Sussex will be kissing his wife and their two children – Archie, two, and Lilibet, five months – goodbye as he jets off to New York City alone.
Once he arrives in Manhattan, Harry will head to WIRED’s first RE:WIRED event on Tuesday, where’s he’ll be speaking as an expert.
His session is titled ‘The Internet Lie Machine’ and will address the question: “What is the real cost of a lie on the internet — to ourselves, our communities, our societies?”
The following day, Harry is slated to attend the Intrepid Valor Awards, where he will present five awards to US service members and their families.
He will appear alongside the likes of Jon Bon Jovi at the event, but the royal won’t be starstruck when he catches up with the rocker, as they’ve met before.
The pair teamed up before the pandemic to record the charity single Unbroken ahead of the 2020 Invictus Games, which have been delayed twice due to COVID-19.
Bon Jovi will be receiving an award of his own at the event on Wednesday, though it’s unclear if Harry will be the one presenting it.
This will be the duke’s first appearance at a military event in the US, after being stripped of some of his own honorary military titles back home in the UK.
Harry has previously spoken about how much his own time in the British Armed Forces meant to him and has been vocal about supportive service men and women.
Meanwhile it’s understood that Meghan will remain in California with the couple’s two children while Harry is away, but she certainly won’t be sitting idle.
On Tuesday she will be appearing at the New York Times Dealbook online summit, likely dialling into the summit from her home.
There, she will join other speaks addressing the question: “How can women reach economic and professional parity?”
It’s understood her appearance will be brief, and the duchess may have other things on her mind.
After winning her privacy and copyright case against The Mail on Sunday earlier this year, the UK paper is appealing the ruling.
The new hearing will start on Tuesday in the UK and run for three days and, if the paper is successful in its appeal, Meghan may be in for another legal battle.
The case would likely be sent to trial and the duchess may even be called to give evidence and appear for questioning.
If The Mail on Sunday loses its appeal, Meghan’s previous victory will be upheld and the ongoing court case will be brought to an end.
