The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have travelled to New York City, looking very stylish as they prepare to accept an award recognising their “moral courage” and “willingness to speak up” against social injustice.
Meghan Markle strutted the blue carpet wearing a stunning off-the-shoulder white gown by Nicolas Ghesquiere, paired with black pumps and a chunky Givenchy black satin clutch.
However, it was the stunning Aquamarine ring previously owned by her mother-in-law Princess Diana that caught everyone’s eye.
The ring was worn by the People’s Princess following her divorce from the at-the-time Prince Charles and was ironicly worn on her wedding finger.
Meghan last wore the ring to her wedding reception in 2018.
Prince Harry – who looked just as dashing in his dark suit – and Meghan were honoured by the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights organisation and were named Ripple of Hope Award laureates for 2022 for their work in racial justice and mental health.
While accepting the award, Prince Harry claimed this was only the “beginning”.
“We understand this honour, not about the culmination of a life’s work, but instead and in many ways for us, a beginning,” he said. “Those ripples build a current can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance.”
Meghan Markle responded: “We all need to, when we can, if we feel brave enough, to just speak honestly about our own experience.”
“It gives other people space and the courage to do the same, but more than that to really feel like you’re not alone.”
Meghan’s white dress resembles closely to Kate Middleton’s statement green off-the-shoulder gown worn to The Earthshot Prize 2022.
The Princess of Wales also donned an item from Princess Diana, the infamous emerald choker necklace which was worn as a headband in 1985 during Diana’s Australian tour.
What is considered an iconic moment in history was reportedly a mistake after she attempted to fit the necklace over head rather than unhook the clasp.
While Meghan and Prince Harry were getting glammed up in the United States, the British royal family were holding an event of their own in the United Kingdom.
King Charles, the Queen Consort, Prince William and Kate Middleton attended the first Diplomatic Corps reception at Buckingham Palace since 2019 after it had been cancelled due to coronavirus.
Kate Middleton donned a stunning red glittering gown by Jenny Packham, paired with the Lotus Flower tiara otherwise known as the Papyrus tiara which was previously owned and worn by the Queen Mother.
