Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan are putting their Instagram platform, which has more than 11 million followers, to use amid the COVID-19 health crisis.
As countries across the world enact unprecedented measures, and as peopleโs lives adapt to a difficult climate, the couple have shared an emotional message of hope, marking the first time theyโve spoken out since the pandemic escalated earlier this month.
Taking to their Instagram platform on Wednesday, March 18, the pair shared an image of a hopeful quote: โThis moment is as true a testament to the human spirit as there is.โ
Alongside the image, the caption read: โThese are uncertain times. And now, more than ever, we need each other. We need each other for truth, for support, and to feel less alone during a time that can honestly feel quite scary.โ
Speaking of the thousands of people who are stepping up to fight the virus, be it at home or on the frontline, the pair added: โOur willingness, as a people, to step up in the face of what we are all experiencing with COVID-19 is awe-inspiring. This moment is as true a testament there is to the human spirit.โ
โWe often speak of compassion. All of our lives are in some way affected by this, uniting each of us globally. How we approach each other and our communities with empathy and kindness is indisputably important right now.โ
They added that compassion should be their guiding principle over the coming weeks.
Harry and Meghan confirmed they would be sharing a number of resources over the coming weeks to help people navigate through the uncertain time.
โFrom posting accurate information and facts from trusted experts, to learning about measures we can take to keep ourselves and our families healthy, to working with organisations that can support our mental and emotional well-being,โ the pair explained.
They ended the post with some promising words: โWe are all in this together, and as a global community we can support each other through this process โ and build a digital neighbourhood that feels safe for every one of us.
โWe look forward to sharing more over the days and weeks to comeโฆโ

Fans flooded the post with comments of encouragement and praise for the pair as they step up to share support on their wide-reaching platform.
One fan wrote: โThank you so much!! ๐ I really appreciate this. We are in this together ๐keep praying people. Is an awful phase, but NOT an awful life. Together we are strong.โ
Another added: โSo fitting that you two are the first to acknowledge this pandemic as an international crisis that needs to be dealt with in a calm and informative manner. Applaud you for not quietly sitting back and doing nothing about it.โ
Another simply surmised: โWell said๐๐โ
