It’s almost like Prince Harry knew how deprived we were of his former London jaunts, because the royal just put on a public appearance that exceeded every single one of our expectations.
… Namely because Ed Sheeran was involved.
The Duke of Sussex arrived in the UK over the weekend and self-isolated for several days at his Windsor home, Frogmore Cottage before receiving a negative test result for COVID-19.
For his first foray back into the British public scene, Harry joined none other than Ed Sheeran at a gathering for winners of his beloved Wellchild Awards, which celebrate remarkable children who are going through severe illnesses, and the workers who care for them.
Prince Harry himself is patron to the charity and has attended several of its awards ceremonies in previous years.
At the heartwarming event, Harry candidly opened up about his life in the US after welcoming his new baby girl, Lilibet, at the beginning of June. The newborn is Harry and wife Meghan’s second child, with eldest son Archie, two, helming the household by the sounds of things.
Ed Sheeran, who also has a baby girl he welcomed last year, was all for swapping notes.
“We just had a little girl ten months ago now,” Ed told Harry.
“You’re still in the trenches now! How do you manage with two?”
Harry understandably replied: “Two is definitely a juggle!”
In a later conversation, Harry told a guest a little more about life with Lilibet and Archie.
“We’ve been lucky so far, she’s very chilled and seems happy to just sit there while Archie is running around like crazy.”
Wednesday’s public outing was Harry’s first before he attends the main event and reason he is back on UK soil – the unveiling of Princess Diana’s statue.
The event will take place at Kensington Gardens, with the Prince and his elder brother set to reunite as they reveal the tribute statue they commissioned themselves.
Stay tuned – and expect more royal sightings in the next 48 hours.
