Prince Harry’s wedding day was anything but conventional.
From Meghan Markle walking herself down a portion of the aisle, to Pastor Curry’s now-viral sermon, and of course the royal’s decision to invite both of his ex-girlfriends Cressida Bonas and Chelsy Davy to the ceremony.
While there’s no denying the 33-year-old is crazy in love with Meghan Markle, Harry has always remained in good terms with his former flames – especially Chelsy Davy.
Although Chelsy and Cressie weren’t invited to the VIP nighttime bash at Frogmore House, the blonde beauties were out in full force for the first part of the day at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle.
Prince Harry’s decision to not invite Chelsy to the evening party reportedly left the 32-year-old lawyer “shocked.”
And now a new report from Vanity Fair claims the former lovers, who dated on and off for seven years, had an emotional final phone call just days before the royal wedding with Chelsy almost pulling out of attending the ceremony all together.
“It was their final call, a parting call in which they both acknowledged Harry was moving on,” a close family friend tells the glossy.
“Chelsy was quite emotional about it all, she was in tears and almost didn’t go to the wedding. In the end, she went and promised Harry she wouldn’t try and gatecrash the party.”
Sadly for Chelsy, her poh-faced expressions during the ceremony were quickly turned into cheeky “it could have been me” memes.
Before Meghan, the stunning Zimbabwean beauty had long been considered to be the love of Harry’s life.
They called off their romance in 2011 before having “one last hurrah” in Africa in 2015.
“Harry still holds a candle for her. Chelsy has his heart. They saw each other recently. There’s still very much something between them, but Chelsy won’t commit yet because she doesn’t want to lead a life in the spotlight. Harry’s very sensitive to that,” a source told The Sun in September 2015.

In a recent chat, Chelsy admitted she couldn’t handle the intense attention that came with dating the prince. “
[The scrutiny] was so full-on: crazy and scary and uncomfortable. I found it very difficult when it was bad. I couldn’t cope,” she explained to The Times.
Despite their split, Chelsy has said that they will “always be good friends.”
