When it comes to parenting, there’s no denying the joy that comes with those first few weeks of settling into life as a mum or dad.
For Prince Harry, it seems that joy is endless.
While on an official engagement to Oxford Children’s Hospital, the Duke of Sussex, who welcomed his firstborn son Archie on May 6, put on an animated display as he met with young children and their parents.
But there was one comment he shared about being a father that stood out above all, and it’s melted hearts the world over.
Speaking to a mum named Amy Scullard who was there with her son Emmett, three, the Prince revealed something about his new son that couldn’t be ignored.
According to Hello!, Harry asked Amy whether her youngest daughter was “over the stormy period”, which often occurs over the first 10 weeks.
“[Harry] said he’s getting used to the baby and how Archie has fitted into family life,” she explained.
He said he just feels part of the family and he can’t imagine life without his son.”
Be still our beating hearts!
Later in the day, Prince Harry also met with residents at the Barton Neighbourhood Centre, where he was greeted with hundreds of well-wishers and cards galore.
One guest asked the royal how new mum Meghan was going, to which Harry replied: “Yes, she is fine.”
Harry also put on a beautifully animated display as he chatted to local school children during the day.
He even told a group of them exactly how difficult he was currently finding it to sleep!
Upon being presented posters and more than 50 cards from the children, Harry told them: “When I’m awake at 4 o’clock in the morning I’ll read all these.”
It’s all systems go for the new dad, who has been out and about attending a number of official engagements following the birth of his son a mere week ago.
On Thursday, the Prince visited the Netherlands where he launched the official countdown to the next Invictus Games – an event close to his heart.
While there, the Prince spoke about his late mother Princess Diana, telling a guest that missing a mother was like missing an important security blanket.
“[Harry said] you need that as a son and it falls away when you lose your mother,” the guest revealed to The Daily Mail.

And indeed Diana’s legacy is certainly living on within the growing Sussex family. On Mother’s Day, the pair shared a new photo of their baby son – and his adorable tiny feet were pictured over a bed of Forget-Me-Nots.
The flower was known to be Princes Diana’s favourite – a beautiful tribute to Archie’s late grandma.
“Paying tribute to all mothers today – past, present, mothers-to-be, and those lost but forever remembered. We honor and celebrate each and every one of you.”
It seems like baby Archie is surrounded by plenty of love!
