Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall have announced that they will soon visit Romania, Italy, The Holy See and Austria between March 29 and April 6.
While specific details of the tour are yet to be released, the royal couple are expected to spend three days exploring Romania’s capital and neighbouring areas, before travelling to Italy – a country Prince Charles has already visited on 19 official occasions – and the Holy See where the will spend a total of six days.
From there, the duo will spend two days in Vienna, Austria, before heading back to the UK.
A spokesman for the Prince said: “The tour will highlight the UK’s relationship with European partners in areas including social cohesion, military ties and combating human trafficking.”
According to Clarence House, the visits are being made at the request of the British Government, in an attempt to celebrate links between the UK and Romania, Italy, the Holy See and Austria.
Political commentators add that the royal tour will help to solidify England’s ties with Europe in a post-Brexit climate.
The exciting announcement follows the news that Prince Charles’ son and daughter-in-law, Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge, will soon be taking an official trip to Poland and Germany.
“The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will make an official visit to Poland and Germany this July at the request of The Foreign and Commonwealth Office,” a Kensington Palace spokesperson confirmed in a statement on March 3rd.
“Full details will be announced in due course,” it concluded.
This will mark Catherine’s first trip to Germany and the couple’s first time in Poland on behalf of Queen Elizabeth.
It’s believed the parents of two will meet with German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, during their visit.
It’s also expected they will catch up with Polish Prime Minister, Beata Szydlo, and pay their respects at the concentration camp Auschwitz.
Although the initial announcement hasn’t addressed whether they will be joined by their two young children, Prince George, three, and Princess Charlotte, one, the pair travelled with their parents as they embarked on a royal tour of Canada last September.

The Cambridges will also head to Paris later this month for a two-day tour on the 17th and 18th of March.
The trip to France will mark the first official royal visit by the couple since the untimely death of William’s mother, Princess Diana.
Wills was just 15 and his brother Prince Harry only 12, when Princess Diana was tragically killed in a car crash in Paris on 31 August 1997. She was 36 years old.
While the tour will be the Duke and Duchess’s first official visit to Paris, William has previously travelled to Paris on a handful of unofficial trips.
Though, any trip to the French capital is undoubtedly an emotional experience for the second in line to the throne.
