The commentary surrounding Prince Andrew in the wake of the Queen’s death has been complex.
While some empathise with the royal’s loss, others have found it hard to sympathise with the Duke of York following his sexual assault allegations.
Throughout the official 10 days of mourning for Her Majesty, the eighth-in-line to the throne has been pictured bowing to his mother’s coffin, standing Vigil beside his brothers, and consoling his children, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie.

“I would have thought that the rule for Andrew was lay low [and] be inconspicuous,” Dr Louise Mahler exclusively tells Woman’s Day of Andrew’s body language.
“For him to do these kinds of gestures where he puts his head in the prayer position. Honestly, the man has lost all the length of rope, his length of rope is out.
“Just stand there and create no unusual behaviour and he doesn’t seem able to do that.”
Andrew and Harry bowed their heads while other royals saluted the Queen’s coffin.
(Image: Getty)As the Queen’s coffin was carried into Westminster Hall, Princes Andrew and Harry bowed their heads instead of saluting the monarch. The two royals were also not dressed in military uniform.
However, the men did don their military gear as they stood Vigil.
What’s more, as Andrew walked behind his mother’s coffin for the Royal mile, a heckler yelled out: “Andrew, you’re a sick old man.” He was since arrested.
Some heralded the heckler a hero, while others deemed the act disrespectful considering the circumstances.

Royal fans were also divided after news broke that the duke was to be granted ownership of the late Queen’s corgis, along with his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson.
The Duke of York’s spokesperson said he and Sarah, Duchess of York, will look after Muick and Sandy – two dogs Queen Elizabeth II was gifted.
Prince Andrew gave his mother Muick, a corgi, and Fergus, a dorgi during lockdown in 2021.
When Fergus died in May 2021, Prince Andrew’s daughters Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice gifted their grandmother the Queen another corgi named Sandy.
“The corgis will return to live at Royal Lodge [on the Windsor Estate] with the Duke and Duchess,” a source close to Prince Andrew told the BBC.
