They’re both influential mothers and outspoken on causes that are dear to their hearts, so it should come as no surprise that Duchess Meghan and famed singer Pink actually have a lot in common.
And that’s why we’re cheering at Pink’s latest emotional call out, which has come in support of the new royal mum as she faces severe public scrutiny for something that’s captured global attention.
Meghan and her husband Prince Harry were at the centre of damning media reports earlier in August when they were spotted flying to Nice, France via a private jet.
UK tabloids were quick to blast the couple’s decision to fly solo, quoting extortionate amounts of money and remarking at the environmental effects of travelling in this way.
But not everyone agreed – especially some very well known faces, who decided to take a stand against the constant backlash the royal pair face no matter what they do.
First was Elton John, who provided the couple with the private jet and accommodation in Nice in order to protect the brand new family from the heavy gaze from the public they usually endure.
”I am deeply distressed by today’s distorted and malicious account in the press surrounding the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s private stay at my home in Nice last week,” Elton wrote on Twitter.
“Prince Harry’s Mother, Diana Princess Of Wales was one of my dearest friends. I feel a profound sense of obligation to protect Harry and his family from the unnecessary press intrusion that contributed to Diana’s untimely death.”
Elton’s words had many cheering at his support for the royals, and he clearly inspired others to do the same.
Soon after, TV host and conservationist Ellen DeGeneres also took to her Twitter account to defend the royals.
“Portia and I met Prince Harry and Meghan to talk about their work on wildlife conservation,” she wrote.
“They were the the most down-to-earth, compassionate people. Imagine being attacked for everything you do, when all you’re trying to do is make the world better.”
And now, another celebrity who also seems very fond of the royal couple has come forward – celebrated musician Pink.
Taking to her own Twitter account, the singer wrote: “I’m happy to see people coming to the defense of The Duke and Duchess of Sussex.”
“The way people treat her is the most public form of bullying I have seen in a while. It’s out of control. Let’s all be a bit kinder, huh? Let’s show our children that it’s cool to be kind.”
Hear hear!
The mum-of-two has been known to throw her support behind causes that matter to her, particularly where online bullying is concerned.
Earlier this month, she also publicly defended fellow singer Jessica Simpson when she was slammed by parents for dying her daughter’s hair.
Pink shared a series of her own images where she is seen dying her own eight-year-old daughter Willow Sage’s hair blue.
In the caption, she worte: “I heard people were bummed on Jessica Simpson for letting her seven-year-old get her hair colored. So we thought we’d share what we did yesterday.”
With the above in mind, there’s certainly no denying life in the limelight would be tough.
And that’s why we’re loving how these celebrities are showing their support for each other and speaking out against unwarranted bullying – long may it continue!
