Mike Tindall is captivating his fellow jungle-goers, not to mention viewers at home, during his stint on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! UK, which is being filmed in the Australian jungle.
Every now and then, the husband to Zara Tindall, née Phillips, will share a behind-the-scenes tidbit about the monarchy even better than The Crown’s fictionalised account of aristocratic events.
Most recently, the former rugby union player spoke about the time he embarrassed himself in front of a very important member of the royal family.
Sharing an anecdote from Zara’s 70s themed 30th birthday bash, Mike said: “I was dancing on the dance floor, I had like flares on, full outfit but it was quite tight, nothing ever fits – rugby player’s bum and legs – so I was dancing with my mother-in-law and I did a slut drop in front of my mother-in-law.”
The mother-in-law in question is, of course, Princess Anne, the daughter to the late Queen Elizabeth II.
And the story gets better.
“Ripped my trousers, straight in front of her,” Mike continued. “It happened to be that the boxers that I had on at that time said ‘nibble my nuts’.”
He then shared Anne’s hilarious response to the scene.
“As I’ve turned round, she’s gone, ‘I’d rather not.’ I’ve gone, ‘I’m going,’ and walked off.”

It’s not surprising to find out that Anne was such a good sport about the accident. After all, the royal does have an excellent relationship with her son-in-law.
Indeed, Mike has long boasted about how welcoming the royal family has been since he joined the fold.
“Zara’s mum is a legend and her father is lovely too,” he said in a 2008 interview.
More recently, in a 2022 interview with The Telegraph, Mike reinforced how “kind” all the royals have been to him.
“They’ve made my family welcome,” the former footy player said.
“I’ve always felt part of it and I think that’s down to what an amazing woman the Queen is. They’re a fantastic family.”
