If you’re anything like us, you’ll be waiting with anticipation for even the smallest sign that Duchess Meghan is about to, or has already given birth.
That’s why this latest news might come as a surprise: The Palace has announced that Meghan and husband Prince Harry will keep the birth of their newborn a secret to start with in order for them to celebrate as a new family of three.
The news came on Thursday evening in Australia, when the pair released an official statement reading: “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very grateful for the goodwill they have received from people throughout the United Kingdom and around the world as they prepare to welcome their baby.
“Their Royal Highnesses have taken a personal decision to keep the plans around the arrival of their baby private.
“The Duke and Duchess look forward to sharing the exciting news with everyone once they have had an opportunity to celebrate privately as a new family.”
The news came as a surprise to many given sister-in-law Duchess Catherine’s highly publicised births, which were shared with the world from the moment she was in labour, to official photo calls taking place with the new royal baby mere hours after giving birth.
Despite this, it seems unlikely that Meghan will follow suit – so the question of when and where we’ll first catch a glimpse of her newborn remains to be seen.
But don’t give up hope just yet – while the birth itself might be kept a secret in the days following, royal reporter Rebecca English has revealed that the couple will still facilitate a photo call around two days after its birth – phew!
Given the new royal baby is Meghan and Harry’s first child together, it’s no wonder the pair are hoping to embrace the excitement as much as possible by keeping the media at bay for a little while longer.

Meghan and Harry have just moved to their new abode in Windsor.
Named Frogmore Cottage, the new location has been under renovations for the past few months in order to make it suitable for the royal baby.
The secluded location of the new home offers the pair a slightly more secluded lifestyle than that offered at Kensington Palace, so it’s the perfect place for the couple to raise their new baby away from the business of London.
The renovations are understood to have costed $5.45 million, which included a refurbished nursery made gender-free, eco-friendly and vegan, according to respected royal commentator Kate Nicholl of Vanity Fair.
Looks like Baby Sussex will be receiving a very grand welcome into its stylish new abode when the time comes!
