Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan have come out swinging in response to a rumoured news story that suggested the pair were working on their own reality TV show.
On Monday evening (AEST), the royal pair’s spokesperson released a statement on behalf of the Sussexes to clear up any misconceptions.
And while it’s certainly been noted that there’s less than zero chances of a reality TV show from their end, there is another production or two we can look forward to.
Last month, it was revealed Harry and Meghan had made one of their biggest moves post-exit to date – signing onto a deal with multi-national giant entertainment company Netflix.
In the official statement released in line with the big announcement, the pair revealed: “Our focus will be on creating content that informs but also gives hope. As new parents, making inspirational family programming is also important to us, as is powerful storytelling through a truthful and relatable lens.”
Of course, rumours around what kinds of productions the pair would work on were rife from the get-go.
And in a new report from British tabloid, The Sun, apparently one of those was a brand new reality TV series.
According to the sensational report, Harry and Meghan were planning to offer a “glimpse into their lives” with a fly-on-the-wall reality TV series.
“They may have had all these lofty ideas about producing epics highlighting environmental causes and the poverty gap, but Netflix obviously want their pound of flesh,” a source told the publication.
Of course, these kinds of headlines and unnamed source quotes must always be taken with a large grain of salt (especially in royal circles).
But instead of sweeping it under the rug as yet another untruthful claim, Harry and Meghan decided to hit back.
Speaking to another British publication, HELLO!, a spokesperson for Meghan and Harry confirmed: “The Duke and Duchess are not taking part in any reality shows.”
And another Netflix spokesperson also cleared up the rumours, telling Press Association: “The couple already has several projects in development, including an innovative nature docu-series and an animated series that celebrates inspiring women but we are not disclosing any of the programming slate at this time.”
So while a reality show is definitely off the cards, that doesn’t detract from the fact there is more to come from these two in the on-screen landscape.
Further to their Netflix deal, it’s understood both Harry and Meghan have been holding secret meetings with a number of people in the Hollywood sphere, a move made much easier given their move to Los Angeles in March.
Of course, while the 39-year-old mum’s roots are firmly based in acting, it’s understood Meghan will take a step back from appearing in front of the camera and will work more behind the scenes.
We have three words: Bring. It. On.
