Meghan, Duchess of Sussex has teamed up with Hollywood actress Melissa McCarthy for a surprising new project.
The royal launched her new 40×40 initiative on Wednesday to mark her own 40th birthday.
She announced the project on the Archewell website with a cheeky video starring herself and Bridesmaids actress Melissa.
In it, the pair joke through a Zoom call before Meghan officially introduces the 40×40 initiative.
And yes, Prince Harry even made a cameo in the clip!
The video begins with Meghan calling Melissa up over Zoom, the actress quickly changing into her Sunday best and appearing with a cup of tea to speak with Meghan.
The Duchess, dressed in an elegant white midi ensemble, says she has some exciting news for her birthday, and Melissa is quick to try to guess what it is.
“Are we finally getting matching tattoos?” she asks Meghan. “Are you finally going to do a Suits reunion?”
Eventually the Duchess explains that she wants to set up an initiative called 40×40, where famous women help women return to the workforce after the coronavirus pandemic.
She explained the project in detail with a written statement on the Archewell site, which read in part: “In reflecting on my 40th birthday and the many things I am grateful for, I’m struck that time is among our greatest and most essential gifts.
“With my 40th lap around the sun in mind, it made me wonder: what would happen if we all committed 40 minutes to helping someone else or to mentoring someone in need? And then what would happen if we asked our friends to do the same?”
The Duchess then urged other women to join the initiative that will help give back to communities after 18 months of crisis.
“If you are able, please join us and pledge 40 minutes today in service of others in the way that feels right to you,” she wrote.
“The time that you donate can contribute to a global wave of service and set in motion meaningful impact in our own communities, and across the world.”
It’s a touching sentiment for her birthday, and one very much in line with the Duchess’ past charitable and humanitarian work.
The video to launch the project was also a brilliant touch, giving viewers a glimpse of Meghan’s life at home with Prince Harry.
The Duke of Sussex even made a cameo in a blooper reel at the end of the video, appearing through a window as he juggled outside their home.
Throughout the clip, the couple’s dog Guy, a beagle Meghan adopted in 2015, can be seen enjoying a nap on a large dog bed behind Meghan’s desk.
