In a gorgeous moment, doting new dad Prince Harry has delivered a statement to press, stating between excitable looks of glee: โ€œMeghan and myself had a baby boy earlier this morning.โ€

โ€œMother and baby are doing incredibly well, itโ€™s been the most amazing experience I could ever have possibly imagined.โ€

The new dad went into a fit of joyful laughter as he added: โ€œHow any women doesโ€ฆ what they do is beyond comprehension.โ€

โ€œWeโ€™re both absolutely thrilled and so grateful for all the love and support from everybody out there, itโ€™s been amazing so we just wanted to share this with everybody.โ€

The exciting news came after Sussex Royal, the pairโ€™s official Instagram account, confirmed the Duchess of Sussex has welcomed a healthy baby boy weighing 3.2kgs at 0526hrs this morning.

Sharing a picture announcing the exciting news, the statement read: โ€œWe are pleased to announce that Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed their firstborn child in the early morning on May 6th, 2019. Their Royal Highnessesโ€™ son weighs 7lbs. 3oz.โ€

The statement continued: โ€œThe Duchess and baby are both healthy and well, and the couple thank members of the public for their shared excitement and support during this very special time in their lives.โ€

News that Duchess Meghan, 37, was in labour was first announced earlier this morning London time, in a statement which said: โ€œThe Duchess of Sussex went into labour in the early hours of this morning. The Duke of Sussex was by Her Royal Highnessesโ€™ side. An announcement will be made soon.โ€

Going by recent reports, it seems Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry will not follow in the footsteps of Duchess Catherine and Prince William and debut their beautiful new bundle of joy on the hospital steps, but we do expect the couple to share more details within the next few days, including their childโ€™s name and official royal title.

Baby Sussex will fall after Prince William and Duchess Catherineโ€™s children and be seventh in line to the British throne.

In a statement from Buckingham Palace, it was confirmed royal family members including the Queen, Prince Charles and Camilla, and William and Kate had been informed and were โ€œdelightedโ€ by the news.

The Palace also confirmed Meghanโ€™s mother, Doria Ragland was โ€œoverjoyedโ€ by the arrival, and was staying with Meghan and Harry at Frogmore Cottage.

The statement suggests Meghan did not go to hospital to give birth, instead choosing, as predicted, to have a home birth.

As per Royal Baby tradition, an easel was also placed outside Buckingham Palace announcing the birth to the public.

The easel will be on display for the next 24 hours before being sent to privy council.

Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan announced they were expecting their first child in October last year on the same day they touched down in Sydney ahead of their royal tour of Australia, New Zealand, Tonga and Fiji.

โ€œTheir Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Sussex is expecting a baby in the Spring of 2019,โ€ the statement read at the time.

Concluding: โ€œTheir Royal Highnesses have appreciated all of the support they have received from people around the world since their wedding in May and are delighted to be able to share this happy news with the public.โ€

โ€œItโ€™s funny, Iโ€™ve actually been joking the last few weeks. I had seen this documentary on Netflix about feminism, and one of the things they said during pregnancy was I feel the embryonic kicking of feminism,โ€ she said in March while speaking on the International Womenโ€™s Panel at Kingโ€™s College in London.

โ€œI loved that, so boy or girl, whatever it is, we hope that thatโ€™s the case with our little bump.โ€
