UPDATE: PRINCE HARRY DELIVERS OFFICIAL STATEMENT TO PRESS – SEE THE FULL CLIP IN THE VIDEO ABOVE.
In a gorgeous moment, doting new dad Prince Harry has delivered a statement to press, stating between excitable looks of glee: “Meghan and myself had a baby boy earlier this morning.”
“Mother and baby are doing incredibly well, it’s been the most amazing experience I could ever have possibly imagined.”
The new dad went into a fit of joyful laughter as he added: “How any women does… what they do is beyond comprehension.”
“We’re both absolutely thrilled and so grateful for all the love and support from everybody out there, it’s been amazing so we just wanted to share this with everybody.”
The exciting news came after Sussex Royal, the pair’s official Instagram account, confirmed the Duchess of Sussex has welcomed a healthy baby boy weighing 3.2kgs at 0526hrs this morning.
Sharing a picture announcing the exciting news, the statement read: “We are pleased to announce that Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed their firstborn child in the early morning on May 6th, 2019. Their Royal Highnesses’ son weighs 7lbs. 3oz.”
The statement continued: “The Duchess and baby are both healthy and well, and the couple thank members of the public for their shared excitement and support during this very special time in their lives.”
“More details will be shared in the forthcoming days.”

News that Duchess Meghan, 37, was in labour was first announced earlier this morning London time, in a statement which said: “The Duchess of Sussex went into labour in the early hours of this morning. The Duke of Sussex was by Her Royal Highnesses’ side. An announcement will be made soon.”
Going by recent reports, it seems Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry will not follow in the footsteps of Duchess Catherine and Prince William and debut their beautiful new bundle of joy on the hospital steps, but we do expect the couple to share more details within the next few days, including their child’s name and official royal title.
Baby Sussex will fall after Prince William and Duchess Catherine’s children and be seventh in line to the British throne.
In a statement from Buckingham Palace, it was confirmed royal family members including the Queen, Prince Charles and Camilla, and William and Kate had been informed and were “delighted” by the news.
The Palace also confirmed Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland was “overjoyed” by the arrival, and was staying with Meghan and Harry at Frogmore Cottage.
The statement suggests Meghan did not go to hospital to give birth, instead choosing, as predicted, to have a home birth.
As per Royal Baby tradition, an easel was also placed outside Buckingham Palace announcing the birth to the public.
The easel will be on display for the next 24 hours before being sent to privy council.
Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan announced they were expecting their first child in October last year on the same day they touched down in Sydney ahead of their royal tour of Australia, New Zealand, Tonga and Fiji.
“Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Sussex is expecting a baby in the Spring of 2019,” the statement read at the time.
Concluding: “Their Royal Highnesses have appreciated all of the support they have received from people around the world since their wedding in May and are delighted to be able to share this happy news with the public.”

What followed was nothing short of royal baby mania as the parents to-be charmed Australia and the Pacific on an exhaustive 16-day tour with a staggering 76 engagements.
During this time, the world was given the first glimpse of Meghan’s growing baby bump as the pair opened up about their joy of becoming first-time parents.
“We also genuinely couldn’t think of a better place to announce the upcoming baby, whether it’s a boy or a girl, so thank you very very much,” a beaming Prince Harry said back in October at an official reception at Admiralty House in Sydney a day after announcing the news.

As for how Meghan was coping with her pregnancy, she told members of the public during a walkabout of Bondi beach that being pregnant was “like having jet lag without actually travelling.”
When it comes to baby names, Meghan has previously kept coy.
“We haven’t decided. We’ve been given a long list of names from everyone and we’re going to sit down and look at them, have a talk about it,” she mused on the subject.
Since then, Meghan has flourished during her pregnancy and clocked up an impressive amount of official appearances on behalf of the royal family.

Most recently, Meghan mused that Harry will be a “fantastic father” before admitting she hopes her first child will be a feminist and a passionate supporter of equal rights – no matter what the gender.
“It’s funny, I’ve actually been joking the last few weeks. I had seen this documentary on Netflix about feminism, and one of the things they said during pregnancy was I feel the embryonic kicking of feminism,” she said in March while speaking on the International Women’s Panel at King’s College in London.
“I loved that, so boy or girl, whatever it is, we hope that that’s the case with our little bump.”
Harry and Meghan’s beautiful baby news was the icing on top of an already incredible few years for the couple following their historical May 19th royal wedding.
Breaking with tradition, their first child will be raised away from the glare of Kensington Palace in London and instead the Sussexes have relocated to the more secluded and private surrounds of

Then in May last year, the royal love birds returned to Windsor for their wedding at St George’s Chapel followed by reception celebrations at Frogmore House.
The cottage, which is split up into five apartments, was previously used by house royal staff and have been described as a “little bit run-down” but thanks to extensive renovations, it’s now in sparkling condition for its royal residents.
In the past, Harry has spoken openly about being ready to become a dad.
“I’ve longed for kids since I was very, very young,” the Prince has previously said.
Adding of the type of father he’ll be: “I’ve got a kid inside of me. I want to keep that. I adore kids. I enjoy everything that they bring to the party. They just say what they think.”
While former Suits actress Meghan has previously admitted starting a family has always been on her “bucket list.”
“I also dream to have a family. It’s all about balance, and I have so much happiness in my career and am fortunate to travel the world and see so many amazing things — it will also be nice to be anchored to something grounded and in the same place. Raising a family will be a wonderful part of that,” she told Lifestyle magazine in 2016.
Well, it looks like their dream has come true! A huge congratulations to the new royal family of three.
