Meghan Markle has announced non-profit organisation The Archewell Foundation – established by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex – will be partnering with The Ving Project to provide $1million in grants to support young women in the United States.

The Ving Project is a movement which allows people to surprise a nominee of their choice with $1000.

The partnership was inspired by Meghan’s Spotify podcast, Archetypes, which has explored how gender and cultural differences “try to hold women back.”

“In honour of Archetypes, we’re partnering with VING Project, a national giving movement, to donate $1,000,000 in $1,000 grants to women who need to be uplifted,” it wrote on The Archewell Foundation website.

“But we’re not the philanthropists — you are.

Meghan continued to encourage those between 14-18 years old and residing in the United States to nominate a woman who requires financial support or a “boost.”

Meghan’s podcast restarted on October 4.

“You could be chosen to give $1,000 to that person, and make a difference in her life.”

In a press release, Meghan said the new partnership has made her “very proud” as she participates in a cause she is passionate about.

“Two things that bring me great joy are supporting women, and the spirit of giving,” the Duchess said.

“With the return of Archetypes, Archewell Foundation and VING have come together to create the perfect combination of these loves.”

“By donating $1 million in grants to women in need, our hope is not to only provide support where it may be felt deepest, but also empower young adults to embrace the gift of giving at an early age.

“I’m very proud of this partnership and the good we hope to see come from it.”

Meghan’s podcast returned to Spotify on October 4 following nearly a month hiatus to mourn Queen Elizabeth II.

In the fourth episode, the Duchess sat down with comedian Margaret Cho to discuss Asian-American personalities in the entertainment industry.

She also dished on some embarrassing stories and how toxic stereotyping on-screen has influenced people’s perceptions.
