It’s happened, it’s official, we can now put our minds at ease for knowing that we’re about to witness what might be the greatest red carpet of all time.
Yes, it has now been officially confirmed that Duchess Meghan Markle will be attending the U.K. premiere of the Lion King alongside a global superstar of music, and we’re already imagining how the internet will inevitably break when this happens.
Confirmed by Buckingham Palace on Thursday, it was announced that Duchess Meghan, wife of Prince Harry and international icon, will be joining none other than Beyoncé at the red carpet premiere.
Respected royal commentator Omid Scobie shared the news via Twitter, writing: “Buckingham Palace confirm that Duchess Meghan will be joining Harry on the carpet for the #LionKing premiere this Sunday.”
He added: “And yes, @Beyonce’s people tell me that she will be attending. Expect the internet break down.”
Yes, we’re also internally bursting into confetti at the thought of this glorious combination of inspirational females.
In June, it was revealed that just Prince Harry intended to attend the premiere. Later, whispers emerged that Meghan might be joining him, although there was no official confirmation from the palace.
Now that we have got the nod from Buckingham Palace, we can officially role out the countdown – which ends on the evening of July 14, when the premiere takes place in London.
Beyoncé is expected to attend the glamorous event given her leading role in the film voicing the character of Nala.
As for the royals involvement in the premiere, it was explained in June that Prince Harry would attend the red carpet in support of his conservation work through the royal foundation.
Indeed Prince Harry and Meghan are known for their passionate conservation work, with the pair having travelled to Africa together in the early stages of their relationship to aid the efforts being made to protect wildlife in the continent.
What’s more, later this year the Sussexes will travel back to Africa, this time with their son Archie, where it is expected they will continue strengthening ties with the countries there, as well as continue their conservation efforts.

The Sussexes appearance at the Disney remake’s premiere is also extra special in that the film, originally released in the 1990s is known to be Prince Harry’s favourite film.
And as for the potential appearance with Beyoncé, this would certainly be a long time coming, especially as the famed singer recently proved she was a big fan of the new royal by sharing a picture featuring a portrait of Meghan.
Posting the photo and sharing her thanks for a Brit Award back in February, Beyonce wrote: ‘In honor of Black History Month, we bow down to one of our Melanated Monas. Congrats on your pregnancy! We wish you so much joy.”
Here’s hoping we can get a new picture with the stunning musical super star and a real-life Meghan this time around!
