Weddings are always an emotionally-charged event.
And it turns out it was no different for Duchess Catherine when her children Princess Charlotte, three, and Prince George, five, took part in Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding back in May.
According to a new report from the UK’s Telegraph, Catherine was reportedly left “in tears” after her daughter Princess Charlotte’s bridesmaid dress fitting for the big event.
The UK outlet’s respected royal reporter Camilla Tominey, who first broke the news of Harry and Meghan’s romance in 2016, reveals an insider told her: “Kate had only just given birth to Prince Louis and was feeling quite emotional.”
Tominey adds that she spoke with “two separate sources” who confirmed Kate was indeed upset and crying after her daughter’s fitting.
The report doesn’t touch on exactly what upset the Duchess but the Daily Beast claim Meghan and Kate had an argument over Charlotte’s dress.
Indeed, it would be overwhelming for any mother to see her little children all dressed up in their pageboy and bridesmaid outfits.
Meghan and Harry’s May 19th nuptials marked the first time Kate had been seen out in public since welcoming third son Prince Louis with husband Prince William on April 23rd the month before.
This latest update on Meghan and Kate’s alleged fractured relationship comes amid a deluge of reports claiming the sisters in-law aren’t close and there has been a level of “unease” between the Cambridges and Sussexes.
“Kate and Meghan are very different people. They don’t really get on,” a source explained to the Mail on Sunday over the weekend.
Further adding fuel to the fire is the fact that Meghan and Harry have just announced they will be moving out of Kensington Palace and will no longer be neighbours with Kate and William.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will make Frogmore Cottage in Windsor their new headquarters as royal aides alleged the move out of London is due to growing issues between the two households.
“Harry knows he will always be in William’s shadow and for many years he has felt like a bit of a spare wheel , dragging along behind his brother and Kate,” a friend told The Express.
“Now he has a life of his own and a family of his own. It is perfectly natural to want to be more independent.”
Since Meghan’s arrival on the scene, she and Kate have made one joint appearance together at Wimbledon in July, where the pair appeared to get on famously. However, nothing the royals ever do is not expertly stage managed so the cynic in us wonders if this was all a clever PR stunt.
While we may never know the true dynamics between the royal sisters in-law, we must admit we’re a little bit sad. Why can’t the Fab Four all just get along?
