As the northern hemisphere enjoys life post-lockdown and warmer summer weather, one duo making the most of the world slowly coming back to life is Duchess Catherine and her youngest son, Prince Louis.
This week, one very lucky royal watcher happened to spot the mother-son duo out and about near their Kensington Palace home.
Taking to Twitter to document her royal sighting, Mayleen Ramey revealed she quite literally bumped into the pair as Prince Louis, whizzed by on his bike.
“Had the most random & epic ‘celeb spotting’ this morning in London. It was a literal run-in as we almost collided,” Mayleen explained on Thursday July 1.
“As I was approaching the Queen’s Gate entrance, I see a young boy on a bike racing towards me on the sidewalk, while gleefully saying ‘I can’t go slower!’ as his Mum chases inches behind. As I do when I see all kids, I break into a grin and say a big ‘hiiii!’ as he zooms by,” she recalled.
Mayleen quickly realised why these two faces were so familiar.
“It takes me about half a second to realise this adorable boy and his Mum are faces I’ve seen thousands of times. I then notice a breathless, masked man in a suit running after the two, clearly having been outpaced,” she remarked of the pair’s security detail.
”I stop for a second to register this random, magical, royal moment… as I’ve just had an almost literal run-in with HRH Duchess Kate Middleton and Prince George! On a sidewalk! In the middle of London!!”
”I then immediately gasp in horror as I realise I’ve probably broken all Royal protocol by yelling out ‘hiii’ to the third in line to the throne. I walk away, elated & embarrassed. What started as a [thumbs down emoji] day turned into one I’ll never forget. Thank you,” she finished off her fascinating account.

While Mayleen references Prince George in her story, as pointed out by Hello! Magazine the young boy on the bike was most likely Prince Louis, who usually rides his bike to nursery school, which is a short distance from Kensington Palace.
“I’ll bet it was Louis and not George. He would have been in school,” one fan noted.
“I get the impression Prince Louis is a bit kamikaze like my little boy was at that age. I bet he zooms around on that balance bike at a million miles an hour,” a second speculated.
“Yes!!! I bet!!! He is known to go to Nursery through the park followed by his mum on the bike, where as George and Charlottes school is much further away and are taken by car! Louis is so like his brother and tall so would be easy to mistake him,” a third agreed.
In the past, Kate has spoken about being her happiest when she’s outside with her children.
“I’m happy when I’m with my family outside in the countryside and we’re all filthy dirty,” the 39-year-old has confessed.
To celebrate Prince Louis’ third birthday in April, Prince William and Duchess Catherine released an adorable image of the beaming royal sitting proudly on his bike.
That same month Prince Louis started at Willcocks Nursery School in Kensington.
