It shouldn’t come as a surprise that British royalty also do ordinary things like text each other, but when we heard Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle are doing exactly that, we couldn’t help but marvel in the new revelation.
The two royal in-laws are not often seen in public together, but when they do step out on rare occasion, the whole world watches with eagle eyes.
With this in mind, we can’t really blame them for employing another technique to communicate with each other in a way that’s not surveyed by millions of people.
In a surprise new report from Hello!, royal writer Carolyn Durand has revealed the two women “talk and text regularly”, explaining that Kate in particular has made an effort to make Meghan feel welcome in the royal family.
“Their relationship has constantly evolved over time and they have become closer since Meghan’s wedding,” she said.
“Kate was a great source of support to Meghan in the days leading up to Archie’s birth and, despite reports of a rift, they are family and have a really lovely friendship.”
The two royal’s share a “lovely friendship” according to a source.
(Getty)This telling update comes as a new report from PEOPLE revealed the royal mums have seen their relationship “strengthen” over the past year.
Indeed the news certainly refutes widespread media reports that the two royals are in a bitter feud, and is refreshing to hear as Meghan settles into life as a royal.
Explaining that the two women were in completely different places a year ago, the source told PEOPLE that the world could hardly have expected to see the two women hit it off immediately when they led such separate lives.
“There was undue pressure where the whole world wanted them to be best friends,” the source explained.
But as Meghan has recently become a mum to baby Archie, and as Kate settles into life as a mum of three, the pair have become closer.
“There is a sense of [Meghan and Kate’s] relationship strengthening,” the source revealed.
The two royals have grown closer over the past 12 months.

The pair were pictured together at baby Archie’s christening at the beginning of July, mere days before they were again pictured attending the polo along with their children.
The day out, which was captured in a series of images that captured global attention, looked like the ultimate play date – you could have mistaken Meghan and Kate as doting mums taking their kids to the park like the rest of us non-royal folk!

(Getty)And in another unexpected move, Kate and Meghan attended the women’s singles Wimbledon final in mid-July where they were seen chatting animatedly to each other between sets.
According to PEOPLE‘s report, Kate was even seen placing a consoling hand on Meghan’s back when her good friend Serena lost the final match.

Now all we want to know is what emojis the royal’s use next to each other’s contact names on their phones. A crown for queen consort to-be Kate and a pair of sunglasses for cool girl Meghan, perhaps?
