Like the rest of the world, Duchess Catherine and Prince William have spent the last seven months in a state of flux as the COVID-19 pandemic changed our lives as we knew them.
But in the first major sign that things are getting back to business as usual for the regal couple, they’ve finally returned to their roots as royals for a special event.
On Wednesday, the Duke and Duchess hosted the President and First Lady of Ukraine inside none other than the grand residence of Buckingham Palace.
This marks the first time the pair had been back at the Palace in a hosting capacity since March, but it was like no time had passed at all.
Wearing a beautiful blue belted A-line dress, which featured long sleeves and was cinched at the waist, Kate looked elegant as ever as she and Wills spoke with the VIP couple.
Of course, you can’t go past a cornflower blue on the Duchess of Cambridge – it’s almost as though that colour was invented for her.
The meeting was held as the Ukranian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and his wife Оlena made a two-day visit to the UK, where they will sign the Political, Free Trade and Strategic Partnership Agreement with UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
During the meeting, the two couples remained socially distanced, speaking more than two metres apart and both standing up as they moved to couches.
They also didn’t shake hands, which was previously part and parcel on arrival of special guests to the royal residence.
Sharing an update about the day’s event on Instagram, Kensington Royal shared several candid snaps along with the caption: “Today The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge held an audience with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine and First Lady Olena Zelenska, at Buckingham Palace.”
Royal fans took to the post to share their excitement for the special engagement.
“Our very own Duke and Duchess of Cambridge with their soft but powerful diplomatic skills,” one wrote.
Another added: “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge seem so warm and welcoming! They’re doing a wonderful job.”
The Duke and Duchess have had a very busy start to October.
Earlier this month, they were pictured with none other than David Attenborough, as he made a surprise visit to their Kensington Palace home for a private viewing of his new doco, David Attenborough: A Life on our Planet.
In the glorious image, Kate, Wills and their three children George, Charlotte and Louis are all seen looking quite excited to see the British documentary legend.
And on Tuesday, Kate was out and about at a UK campus, Derby University, where she spoke with students about their mental health ahead of World Mental Health Day on October 10.
Wearing a chic checkered coat and baby blue cashmere jumper, there was no denying Kate’s fashion prowess has been better than ever post-lockdown.
We can’t wait to see more from her, and the future King himself.
