Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge has officially rung in her monumental 40th birthday.
As the curtain closes on her thirties, she enters her new chapter with the same poise she carried throughout the years, and to commemorate the milestone, three stunning portraits of the royal have been released.
The first, a black and white picture shared by Kensington Palace, features Catherine dressed in a stunning gown, accessorised with pearl earrings and her engagement ring on display. The snap was captured by Italian fashion photographer Paolo Roversi.
The accompanying statement read, “Delighted to share a new portrait of The Duchess ahead of her 40th birthday tomorrow.
“This is one of three new portraits which will enter the permanent collection of the @nationalportraitgallery, of which The Duchess is Patron.”
The two other portraits featured another black and white shot of the Duchess of Cambridge, this time a close up of her smiling at the camera and the other of the royal in a vibrant red dress, hands in pockets.
After marrying Prince William in April 2011 aged 29, Catherine spent her thirties navigating her first decade as a duchess, and royal spectators have watched her blossom in her role.
From taking on charities and patronages championing causes including mental health, children’s early years and sport to honing her photography skills, she continues to be one of the most popular members of the British royal family.
The world has also watched her become a mother to three gorgeous children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
What’s more, Catherine’s fashion has evolved to reach heights of sophistication and cultural significance, whether she steps out in a new dazzling outfit or a recycled gown.
In the lead up to the duchess’ birthday, publications including The Sun and HELLO spoke to royal insiders about her personality behind closed doors.
Amongst the high praise, it’s apparent that though Catherine is innately shy and introverted, those around her have noticed she has procured more profound confidence as of late.
“Hers is an understated presence. But she’s quietly growing in confidence. She still finds it quite challenging to mix with those sorts of players, because she’s a natural introvert. But she’s really growing into the role,” said one source.
While the duchess may not feel like she was born for public life, it appears to have been her destiny, and it’s one she has taken to with determination, hard work, and passion.
With her husband and three loving children by her side, Kate is in good hands to welcome her forties in anticipation of all the milestones and successes to come.
