For us, it was a weekend of Easter egg hunts, family and food, but how did the world’s favourite royals celebrate the occasion?
Duchess Catherine spent the weekend playing her most important role as a mother, with her children, two-year-old Prince George, and baby Princess Charlotte.
“The Duchess of Cambridge will be spending the Easter weekend with her children,” said a royal source to Hello magazine.
For Kate’s first Easter as a mother-of-two, it was said that she would spend the day privately with her parents, Carole and Michael Middleton at their home in Berkshire in the quaint south east England.
We can only imagine the joyful sight of cheeky Prince George storming the family garden for those delicious eggs!
George and Charlotte’s papa, Prince William spent the weekend 6,800 kilometres away, in the East African country of Kenya.
The Duke of Cambridge travelled across the seas to meet President Uhuru Kenyatta, to focus on forming a closer bond between the UK and Kenya, but his visit took a more personal turn when he attended the wedding of his lifelong friend (and former flame), Jessica “Jecca” Craig, who was marrying conservationist Jonathan Baillie.
Wills briefly dated the pretty brunette in his gap year before he met his future wife at The University of St Andrews.
Since their brief teenage dalliance, Jecca, 34, and William, 33, have become great friends. In fact, it was on the Craig’s family safari reserve that Wills proposed to Kate in 2010.
The wedding service took place in the early afternoon sun on a hilltop overlooking the picturesque reserve, followed by a reception at Lewa House Lodge.
The father-of-two stayed till the end, and was spotted chatting and laughing with friends at the joyous event.
William’s younger brother, Prince Harry spent his Easter weekend in Nepal, where he has been based for the last week.
In a speech made on March 24, the oh-so-charming Prince announced that following the end of his official tour, he had decided to stay on for another week to work on an earthquake relief project.
“The people I have met and the beauty of this country make it very hard to leave. Thankfully however, I’m not leaving just yet,” the handsome royal declared.
“I’ll be spending the next 6 days with @TeamRubiconUK working with the community to rebuild a school damaged by the earthquake.”
“I’m so grateful to have this opportunity at the end of my official tour to do my small bit to help.”
And lastly, it was said that her Majesty the Queen celebrated the Easter weekend with Prince Phillip and other members of the royal family, including Princesses Beatrice, Princess Eugenie and their grandmother Sophie, the Countess of Wessex.
Perhaps the Queen and her guests enjoyed a special viewing of her ITV documentary, The Queen at Ninety, which aired at 8:00pm last night.
