It was literally the funniest celebrity story we heard last year. Ed Sheeran hilariously revealed Princess Beatrice accidentally cut his face with a sword in a mock ‘knighting’ ceremony as James Blunt looked on.
Too funny.
But now (crusher of hopes and dreams) James Blunt has admitted he and Ed made it all up.
“Ed was drunk, messing around, and he cut himself,” James confessed to ShortList. “We made a fancy story up; people fell for it. It was very embarrassing.”
So how much of the silly/amazing story was made up then?
Ed and James are totally BFFs!
“All of it,” James says, also revealing he was the one that patched Ed’s injury up. “Apart from the actual scar. It’s bizarre that people fell for it. I blame him. He must be desperate — he’s trying to sell records.”
While we didn’t expect this kind of manipulation from Ed (how could you mate?!), James is a renowned prankster and his Twitter feed is full of sarcastic remarks to fans.
“If you thought 2016 was bad – I’m releasing an album in 2017,” read one of his hilarious tweets recently.
“WARNING if you see an email saying, “2 free tickets to James Blunt”, DO NOT open it,” reads another tweet. “It contains 2 free tickets to James Blunt.”
What a cheeky bugger!
