When it comes to the royals, there are photos that go back decades showing us what our favourite blue-blooded family looked like in their younger years.
However it’s always a treat when we see a childhood photo of Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge who grew up away from the spotlight.
To mark her 67th birthday, Carole Middleton has shared a throwback photo of herself surrounded by her children and it’s quite simply adorable.
In the black and white photograph shared to Carole’s company Party Pieces’ Instagram account, the Middleton matriarch smiles at the camera in the centre of the frame.
Carole is surrounded by four children, including Catherine, then seven-years-old, Pippa, four, and James, two who are blowing party horns and wearing party hats.
“Happiest of Birthdays to the party planner extraordinaire! We hope you have the most magical day,” the caption read.
However, the image, taken in 1989, isn’t totally new to royal fans – it was first shared back in 2017 to celebrate 30 years of Party Pieces.
Catherine has often been compared to her mother thanks to their similar features as well as their shared love of the great outdoors and healthy living.
The two also share January birthdays – whilst Carole was born on January 31st 1955, her eldest daughter came into the world on January 9 1982.
“It’s no surprise I’ve learned to love January; it’s the start of a new year and time to get healthy habits in place and birthday month for me, so there is every good reason to celebrate with loved ones!” Carole admitted on Instagram earlier this year.
Whilst Catherine’s daughter Princess Charlotte is often compared to the Windsor side of the family, it appears that her youngest has certainly inherited those Middleton genes.
Fans couldn’t help but notice Prince Louis’ strong resemblance to his maternal grandfather, Michael Middleton.
In 2020 when the Cambridge family attended a Christmas pantomime, Louis’ eyes, nose shape and smile made many think of the resemblance.
