KING CHARLES
King Charles III
Born Charles Philip Arthur George, King Charles adopted the official title of King Charles III following the passing of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II.
King Charles formerly held the titles of Prince of Wales and Duke of Cornwall.
QUEEN CAMILLA
Queen Camilla
Camilla has adopted the official title of Queen Camilla, dropping the title of Queen Consort.
PRINCE WILLIAM
William, Prince of Wales
Prince William’s official title is William, Prince of Wales.
Before his wedding to Princess Catherine, Queen Elizabeth II granted him the title Duke of Cambridge.
As heir to the throne, Prince William assumed the titles of Prince of Wales and Duke of Cornwall from his father.
PRINCESS KATE
Catherine, Princess of Wales
Born Catherine Elizabeth Middleton, Princess Kate’s formal title is Catherine, Princess of Wales.
Through her marriage to Prince William, Princess Kate is also known by Princess Diana’s former title of Princess of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall.
PRINCE GEORGE
Prince George of Wales
The eldest child of Prince William and Princess Kate, George Alexander Louis is formally known as Prince George of Wales.
PRINCESS CHARLOTTE
Princess Charlotte of Wales
Charlotte Elizabeth Diana, the only daughter of the Prince and Princess of Wales, has the formal title of Princess Charlotte of Wales.
She is currently third in line to the throne.
PRINCE LOUIS
Prince Louis of Wales
The youngest child of Prince William and Princess Kate, Louis’ official title is Prince Louis of Wales.
PRINCE HARRY
Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex
Born Henry Charles Albert David, Prince Harry’s formal title is Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex.
Prince Harry’s title was initially stylised as His Royal Highness Prince Henry of Wales, going by Captain Harry Wales in military contexts.
Following his step back from royal duties, Prince Harry is not referred to as His Royal Highness however, he has not been stripped of his previous formal titles.
MEGHAN MARKLE
Meghan, Duchess of Sussex
American-born Rachel Meghan Markle’s formal title is Meghan, Duchess of Sussex.
Markle was granted her title as the Duchess of Sussex prior to her wedding to Prince Harry.
PRINCE ARCHIE
Prince Archie of Sussex
Following Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s step back from the royal family, their eldest child adopted the title of Master Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.
As a grandchild of the reigning monarch, Archie was entitled to adopt the official title of Prince following King Charles’ ascension to the throne, with the official website of the British royal family updating Archie’s title to Prince Archie of Sussex in March 2023.
PRINCESS LILIBET
Princess Lilibet of Sussex
Similarly to her brother, Prince Archie of Sussex, Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor was not granted the title of Princess until the announcement of her christening in 2023.
PRINCESS ANNE
Anne, Princess Royal
Born Anne Elizabeth Alice Louise, Princess Anne was granted the formal title of Anne, Princess Royal in 1987.
The title of Princess Royal is the highest honour that can be given to a female member of the royal family, with the monarch having sole discretion over who receives the title.
ZARA TINDALL PETER PHILLIPS
Zara Tindall and Peter Phillips
Both Zara Tindall and her elder brother Peter Phillips do not possess royal titles, with their parents Princess Anne and Captain Mark Phillips declining Queen Elizabeth II’s offer of royal titles.
Given both of the Princess Royal’s children don’t possess an official royal title, none of their family members do either.
PRINCE ANDREW
Prince Andrew, Duke of York
In January 2022, Buckingham Palace released a statement confirming that Prince Andrew would be stripped of his royal patronages and military titles in wake of his affiliation with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
He still maintains the official title of Prince Andrew, Duke of York.
PRINCESS BEATRICE
Princess Beatrice, Mrs. Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi
Princess Beatrice’s official title stems from her marriage to Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi. Mozzi does not carry an official title, nor does their daughter.
PRINCESS EUGENIE
Princess Eugenie, Mrs. Jack Brooksbank
Similarly to her sister Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie’s official title stems from her marriage to Jack Brooksbank. Brooksbank and their son August do not bear official titles.
PRINCE EDWARD
Prince Edward, Duke of Edinburgh
The youngest child of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Prince Edward assumed the title of Duke of Edinburgh on his 59th birthday in March 2023.
Following his marriage to Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, Prince Edward adopted the title of the Earl of Wessex.
