It doesn’t get more Scottish than the Highland Games and on Saturday The Queen, her husband Prince Philip and their son Prince Charles and daughter Princess Anne looked right at home as they watched all the fun and frivolity unfold.
The annual Braemar Gathering, held near The Queen’s Balmoral estate, sees an array of traditional activities and games performed including tug-of-war, caber tossing and of course the Highland Fling Dance.
Each year the Highland Games draw crowds from around the world, with Queen Victoria first attending the event in 1848.
This year, her Majesty – who is a patron of the Highland Games – looked lovely in a lavender dress with a matching hat.
Clearly thrilled to be there, the 90-year-old monarch giggled and cheered beside her loved ones throughout the afternoon.

While they’re well known for keeping a stiff upper lip, but on Saturday the British Royal Family were more candid than ever as they shared a few giggles.
The monarch’s eldest son Charles sat beside his only sister, Princess Anne.

And soon enough, it was time for the traditional festivities to commence!
The family were thrilled by the display.

The royals were very impressed by the various performances.
