And while the bookies are convinced the Duchess is expecting a daughter, they’ve since updated their name predictions with Alice no longer the firm favourite.

According to Ladbrokes, Princess Mary is now the top pick with the odds at 7-1.

The exciting update comes after a serious spike in the north-west of England with punters putting their money behind Mary.

Paddy Power have also slashed their odds of the Cambridge bub being called Mary from 12-1 to 3-1.

Following behind Mary are Alice and Victoria with 8-1 odds, while Alexandra is at 16-1.

“We can’t quite put our finger on the link between Mary and the North West, but the overwhelming support means we have a new favourite in the royal baby name market,” Ladbrokes spokesperson Jessica Bridge explained of the unusual spike.

“Punters are convinced the Duke and Duchess are expecting another little girl, and obviously it would be a lovely touch to honour Her Majesty’s grandmother, but it will be interesting to see if any boys’ names are backed over the coming weeks before the birth.”

Princess Mary is the new favourite title.

Mary would make for a classic choice and suit perfectly with Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

The moniker is also one of The Queen’s middle names and throughout history, there have been two Queen Marys to take to the British throne.

As for the boys’ picks, the bookies have Albert and Arthur tied in the top spot at 12-1.

If there’s one thing we know for sure is that Wills and Kate will most definitely opt for a classic choice, drenched in history and Mary certainly fits the bill.
