The Swedish royals released a statement confirming the birth last night.
“On Tuesday April 19 at 6.25pm, Princess Sofia gave birth to a son at Danderyd Hospital in Stockholm,” the palace wrote in a statement.
“Both mother and child are in good health. Prince Carl Philip was present at the hospital throughout the birth.”
The little prince – whose name is still a closely-guarded secret – weighed in at 3.58kg (7.9lbs) and 49cm.
The new baby is fifth in line to Swedish throne behind his aunt Crown Princess Victoria, her children Prince Oscar and Princess Estelle and his dad Carl Philip.
Carl Philip and Sofia, a former model, married last year June.
