There was no tiara, no 7-meter train – there wasn’t even a white dress.
It may not have been your traditional royal wedding – but a royal wedding it was.
On Sunday, Monaco’s Prince Pierre Casiraghi married Italian heiress and aristocrat, Beatrice Borromeo, in the Prince’s Palace of Monaco.
The groom was accompanied by Princes and Princesses, the palace was adorned with roses and summer delphiniums, guests wore ball gowns, and the bride, the bride wore couture.
And pink couture, no less.
Swathed in pink and gold (to match her engagement ring), the bride’s wedding dress for her civil ceremony was a blush pink chiffon and lace Valentino dress with sweet flower motifs.
It was no surprise, of course, that Valentino was her choice for the day – her family has a long standing relationship with the brand, with her uncle, Count Matteo Marzotto, serving as the former president and director of Valentino.
And it wasn’t her only Valentino dress, either.
For the reception, held at the Hotel de Paris, Beatrice donned another Valentino gown. This one, modelled after a dress from their Spring 2015 Couture show, was a pale blue wisp, with cloud shaped appliques.
The couple, who have been together for seven years, are due to marry again on Beatrice’s family’s private island on August 1.
Of course.
