After the weddings of Kim Kardashian and Kate Middleton, we’d thought the most outrageous and extravagant of weddings were behind us!
But, boy, we were wrong.
Chinese actress, singer and model, Angela Yeung, AKA “Angelababy”, who has been dubbed as “China’s answer to Kim Kardashian” married this month in an incredible $50 million ceremony that spectators are already calling the “wedding of the decade”.
Or, the wedding that makes Kim’s Italian lake-side bonanza look like a backyard bash.
Angelababy married her long-time beau, Huang Xiaoming, in China’s Shanghai Exhibition Centre in front of more than 2000 guests.
The wedding included a 10-foot tall wedding cake complete with a carousel in the middle, an entire wall filled from top to bottom with white roses, a holographic castle with statues of the bride and her groom, stained glass window lights, 200 security guards, brand sponsors around the hall, gift bags including smart phones and a red carpet for arriving guests.
And for a wedding like that, no ordinary dress will do.
The bride wore a custom-made Dior gown that reported took nearly half a year to make and that featured “115 feet of ivory satin organza, and 165 feet of tulle, a 10-foot-long train, and nearly 100 hand-cut rose bouquets made of Chantilly lace”.
The bride completed her look with two vintage diamond-and-pearl tiaras from French jeweller, Chaumet (one for the wedding, one for the reception) – and, of course, the bride’s engagement ring, a $2 million sparkler that featured a five carat pear-shaped diamond (pictured above).
All up the wedding was estimated to cost around $51 million.
Which is as much as Prince William and Duchess Catherine’s royal affair and Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s extravagant do put together.
Now that’s how you do a wedding!
