The Voice is coming back to Australian TVs with a premiere date much sooner than anyone expected.
Moving to Channel 7 for its newest season, the network announced The Voice Australia will return to screens at 7pm on Sunday, 8 August on Channel 7 and 7plus.
The hit singing program will have an all-new look and feel, complete with a panel of famous musical judges.
Aussie sensations Keith Urban and Guy Sebastian will be joined by international pop star and The Voice UK coach Rita Ora for the new season.
Meanwhile Aussie actress and singer Jessica Mauboy will make her judging debut on the show, adding some much-needed Indigenous Australian representation.
Speaking about her approach to coaching, Jess said great talent isn’t always about perfection.
“It’s not always about hitting the perfect note, it’s about making sure you feel the song because that’s going to help you connect to the audience and the people watching at home,” she said via press release.
Keith Urban added that he was excited to return to the show to help mentor emerging artists.
He said: “I love the spirit of The Voice – the fact that we’re coaches more than judges – and that we get to do hands on mentoring. That’s what sets the show apart.”
As for what Guy Sebastian is looking for in a winner, it’s all about finding The Voice contestant who can make it in the music industry.
“What I am looking for is somebody who you can imagine on radio, who is immediately identifiable by their voice, their tone, and the way they tell a story through song,” he said.
Sonia Kruger will be hosting the show this season, and there’s guaranteed to be some incredible new talent hitting our screens.
With the premiere a little over two weeks away, now’s the time to stock up on couch snacks so you’re ready when the show starts.
The Voice premieres at 7.00pm on Sunday, 8 August on Channel 7 and 7plus.
