Dave Hughes had “no idea” what The Masked Singer would entail – but as soon as he discovered who he’d be working with, he jumped at the idea.
“I said, ‘I want to hang out with those chicks [his fellow judges] – and Osher Günsberg!'” he tells TV WEEK. “That’s what got me across the line.”
Hughesy, 48, might be in awe of his co-stars Jackie O, Lindsay Lohan and Dannii Minogue, but his children have “no interest” in celebrities.
“I want them to be impressed – ‘Oh, I’m hanging out with so-and-so’ – but they’re so nonchalant,” the star says with a laugh.
Meanwhile, Dave’s co-star Dannii reveals she’s thrilled he is on the panel, because her son is keen to meet him.
He’s only nine years old, but Dannii’s son Ethan is already set on what he wants to do when he’s older – and that’s to make people laugh.
“I said to Hughesy, ‘I’m going to introduce you to my son, but you have to understand, he loves comedians,'” Dannii, 47, tells TV WEEK. “He’ll be like, ‘Wow! It’s a real, live comedian standing in front of me!'”
Dannii says Ethan has always been a fan of comedy.

“He loves learning jokes and he’s always obsessed with whoever the warm-up guy is on set,” she reveals.
The Masked Singer airs Monday and Tuesday, 7.30pm, on 10.
