We’re only mid-way through the premiere season of The Masked Singer Australia but 10 has already confirmed the hit singing show will be back for more.
The Network confirmed the news at the 10 Upfronts in Sydney on Thursday, where they revealed that all four judges would also be returning. Dave Hughes, Dannii Minogue, Jackie O and Lindsay Lohan will all be coming back to the guessing panel, to try unmask the famous celebrities.
“Despite what you may have read, we will have exactly the same judging line-up and exactly the same host,” 10’s Chief Content Officer Beverley McGarvey has revealed. “We’re thrilled that they’re all coming back.”
It’s a good thing all four panellists are returning, with Hughesy recently telling TV WEEK he only signed on to the program because of his co-stars.
He reveals he had “no idea” what The Masked Singer would entail – but as soon as he discovered who he’d be working with, he jumped at the idea.
“I said, ‘I want to hang out with those chicks [his fellow judges] – and Osher Günsberg!'” he tells TV WEEK. “That’s what got me across the line.”
The combination of the celebrity panel, fun guessing game and family friendly nature proved to be a hit. The series became an instant success, pulling in more than 1.1million viewers in the first night.
“I think, because it’s not a competition between us, the performers, it’s a game for people. It’s a game to play along!” unmasked contestant Gretel Killeen tells TV WEEK. “So many people in there can sing, so it’s not about who is the best singer, or who isn’t, it’s about the intrigue.
“Which character do you like, and which one do you support, and all of that business.”
