Resident larrikins Eliza and Liberty have managed to avoid conflict during their time on The Block – until this week, when the sisters are forced to stand up for themselves.

After the Melbourne duo find out that Kristy and Brett are accusing them of being “Channel Nine plants”, because they supposedly get “special treatment” from Scott Cam’s builders Nine in Six, they decide enough is enough.

“People were saying we get special favours because we are kind and respectful human beings,” Liberty, 34, tells TV WEEK.

“Trades were refusing to work in House 3 because they were getting treated so badly by them. It’s incredibly frustrating when our integrity is questioned.”

“The other day, a sparky [electrician] told us he categorically refuses to work in their house anymore,” Eliza says. “We do feel another couple deserved to be here more than them.”

When it all comes to a head, Eliza, 37, says, “it was a pivotal moment where we stand up to the bullies [Kristy and Brett].”

“I do mental health talks in schools,” Eliza shares. “I want kids watching to know it’s not OK to act like that and there needs to be consequences for that behaviour.”

“Kristy and Leah treated Steph like a target,” Liberty tells TV WEEK. “They’ve made comments like, ‘She thinks we’re friends.’ But Steph is just the sweetest person, so we felt it was our role to stand up for her.”

“It was Mean Girls behaviour,” Eliza, 36, adds.

While speaking on Hit Breakfast with Maz and Matty, Brett claimed Eliza is on a “smear campaign.”

“I don’t know why Eliza is on the smear campaign now, not sure what she’s on about. Maybe she’s got her own issues that she’s trying to cover up or something but yeah, certainly chucking out allegations like, “making people cry,” the production and crew know what happened,” Brett said.

To which, Kristy responded: “Maybe she’s trying to get a radio deal.”

Previously in kitchen and laundry week, which was tough for both Houses 3 and 5 as tensions skyrocket when the girls take aim at their building team for their lack of support and impatience and Kristy and Brett tackle stumping obstacles – plus there’s the added burden of building their dining room.

Kristy and Brett claim the drama explodes because they were getting fed information that sparked their conspiracy theory, from not only Eliza herself but also a fellow Blockhead.

“Gian is the one that told me the girls get work done for free,” Kristy, 34, reveals. “Everyone was happy to be backstabbing one another, but when push came to shove no-one said a word.

“Eliza also came to me and said, ‘If you just hold your bag of insulation and say, ‘this is too hard’ the Nine and Six builders will come and do it for you,'” Kristy says.

“She even said, ‘If it’s not on camera it didn’t happen,'” Brett, 34, says. “That’s when we realised Eliza was playing a game.”
