After being passed in at auction and three months of waiting, Dylan and Jenny’s house from The Block: Tree Change has FINALLY been sold!
The news is a sure relief for the young couple who were left heartbroken on auction day after their house failed to attract any bids over the reserve price of $4,080,000, and they made the tough decision to pass it in with the hope that they could make more of a profit if they left the house on the market.
A Nine spokesperson confirmed the happy news: ‘We can confirm that House 4 has sold on The Block: Tree Change in Gisbourne, in what is a positive outcome for everyone.”
”Dylan and Jenny’s house is now a much loved property who were impressed with the high standard of the build, and incredible views of the Macedon Ranges so close to Melbourne.”
Curiously, a sale price was not included in the post.
Dubbed ”the most positive couple” on The Block by Foreman Keith, the pair were anything but, in the moments directly after their shocking loss.
”I’m pissed off,” Jenny told 9Entertainment at the time, also admitting that she had a ”gut feeling” that they would walk away from the show with a ”lacklustre” result from ”the moment they sat down for reserves.”
”I know they [the houses] are worth $6m, but people don’t have that kind of money at the moment,” she continued.
Dylan and Jenny’s auctioneer said that a high reserve wasn’t the reason their lovingly renovated home had failed to sell, telling Fitzy and Wippa shortly after that the result was ”indicative of current market conditions”.
”It sure was a tough crowd in that room. They were amazing properties. No question about that. Absolutely stunning. I think from any investment point of view, the depreciation benefits are probably one of the most significant parts of that investment. And to be frank, very well priced, in terms of replacement costs.”
Speaking on the high reserve price of over $4m, the auctioneer said that it made sense that the Nine Network wanted to have ”a level playing field” for all the contestants based on valuers recommendations.
The three houses that did sell at auction were sold to one man, IT entrepreneur Danny Wallis whilst Sharon and Ankur’s was sold to entreprenuer Adrian Portelli a month later.
”All five houses on the most ambitious build in the history of The Block have now been sold. We look forward to starting the build on the next series of Channel 9’s The Block very soon,” a Nine spokesperson said.
It remains unclear who purchased Dylan and Jenny’s home but from what Nine has revealed it was purchased for family use and sold via a private treaty that was finalised on February 13th 2023.
Prior to sale the property was listed on Domain with an estimate of $1.63m despite it’s $4.08m reserve on auction night. Real estate agents previously believed the eventual selling price would sit between $4.08m and $4.4m.
Currently it remains to be seen how much the property did sell for, and the profit (if any) that Dylan and Jenny may have received.
After the auction in November 2022, the couple headed back to their home on the Gold Coast to put the finishing touches on their passion project, a Palm Beach property that they purchased in February 2021 and were originally planning on renovating and selling.
But two years down the track and they’ve fallen in love with what was meant to be a quick renovation project, deciding to call their ”little blue beach shack” their forever home.
They are also preparing to get married! Awww!
