Does the first impression rose mean that The Bachelorette’s Carlin DOESN’T win Angie’s heart

If this is Elly Miles 2.0, we're boycotting!

With the premiere episode of The Bachelorette now behind us, we’re already rolling up our sleeves trying to figure out who has won the heart of Angie Kent.

And now that we’ve met all of the eligible bachelors in person, it’s safe to say that our front-runners are well and truly chosen.

First we thought fireman Jamie Doran might be in for a shot, but after that, umm, well, display in the first episode, we’re not so sure.

Then there is fireproofer Timm Hanly who turned up with a bunch of Angie’s favourite sunflowers, giving us all the “never judge a book by its cover” feels.

But it was another bachelor that we met, who proved from the pair’s very first encounter on the red carpet, that he is clearly “wifey” material; and not only have we fallen head-over-heels for him, but it appears that Angie has too.

And that man is sweet, sweet angel-child, Carlin Sterritt.

Carlin is a god-send with his chiselled features, calm temperament and the least cringe-worthy singing and guitar playing we’ve ever seen on The Bachelorette.

Indeed, Angie was so taken with the F45 personal trainer that she gifted him the “first impression” rose – and one that gave him a full 24-hour date with her.

But before we get a little too ahead of ourselves by exclaiming “CARLIN IS THE WINNER”, let’s take a little trip down memory lane (if our hearts can handle it), because, if history is anything to go by, Carlin will in fact, not be the winner, and his heart about to be seriously broken.

In seasons past, there has always been a special exception rose that gives one lucky man the coveted first offering – and while it spells “immediate connection” it (almost) always ends in disaster.

Yes, yes, for fans who are pointing and yelling – there was ONE exception to this rule.

During Sam Frost’s season, the now-Home and Away actress gave her “first impression” rose to Sasha Mielczarek – who ultimately won the show, before a very public break-up.

Then during Georgia Love’s season, the “white rose” was given to Courtney Dober – however, he was sent home after G realised they weren’t on the same page.

When it was Aussie darling Sophie Monk’s turn, the Love Island host she gave Sam Cochrane a “double delight” rose – and, well, we all know how that turned out!

Last year, Ali Oetjen gave Bill “David” Goldsmith the “wild rose” – before choosing Taite Radley in the finale.

If you thought the Bachelorette was bad, think about Elly Miles and the “golden ticket”. #NeverForget.

So, with this, dearest Carlin – you may have received the first impression rose, but does that mean you’re going home with the ultimate prize?

We don’t like your chances.
