Channel 10 has finally announced when The Bachelor‘s ninth season will premiere after being postponed.

The Bachelor, starring three leading men, was set to hit our screens in October 2022, but Channel 10 on Thursday revealed the dating show will now air January 9, 2023.

“What better way to start the year than with a Rose Ceremony? We’ll see you in January!” the network’s official Bachelor Instagram account shared.

When Channel 10 announced in September that the new season, which was filmed earlier this year, would be postponed, the contestants reportedly weren’t happy.

The network’s decision to halt one of its most popular dating TV series comes as it prioritises its new series The Love Boat.

Contestants’ lives are ultimately put on hold as Channel 10 implements strict privacy guidelines to reduce the risk of spoilers.

But given the recent news, the network has returned the casts’ social media accounts to them with the instructions that they do not accept any new followers and accounts are kept private.

A source told Yahoo Lifestyle that the “furious” contestants “just want to move on and refuse to keep their lives on hold.”

“It’s been four months since the show was filmed and the contestants who didn’t find love aren’t allowed to publicly date, freely use their social media accounts or talk about the experience until it’s aired on TV – but this might not be for another six months,” they said.

Fans did not seem surprised by the news the new season has been postponed to 2023, as there were already negative responses to the show’s sudden change in format, with three eligible bachelors taking part: Thomas Malucelli, Jed McIntosh and Felix Von Hofe.

“Not surprising,” one commented on social media, a second adding: “Good! One bachelor at a time not three.”

“Knew that was gonna happen,” another wrote.

Who will win the rose in the next season?

The Bachelor star Jed was previously seen at a nightclub in Potts Point Sydney, and a source informed Yahoo Lifestyle, “he seemed very single.”

“It was really weird he was there on his own, he told us he was waiting for his mates but no one came. We left at around 3am and he was still there on his own. It’s as if he just went out to meet people,” they noted.

Following years of poor ratings, could the postponement be the final nail in the coffin to The Bachelor franchise?
