The Bachelor Australia has opened applications for its 2022 season, but former stars Jimmy Nicholson and Holly Kingston’s had some cheeky reactions to the news.
Taking to Instagram on Thursday night, the Bachelor team shared a post calling for “single women and men looking for a shot at true love” to apply.
It sounds like 10 is casting for both The Bachelor and The Bachelorette in one go, with both shows set to return to our TV screens later this year. Or potentially, this year’s Bachelor wants to find love with a man or woman?
The post was flooded with comments – some excited, some not so much – but it was the cheeky responses from former stars that caught fans’ attention.
Jimmy Nicholson, who was 2021’s Bachelor, joked in a comment that is no longer visible: “@hollykingston shall we apply? Looks legit.”
Girlfriend Holly Kingston, who Jimmy chose as the winner of his season, was equally witty when she replied: “Will get my application in by this evening.”
The couple have been going strong since their season aired in late 2021, even moving in together in Sydney and sharing regular loved-up posts on Instagram.
Though their season of The Bachelor received record low ratings, the couple appear to be one of the show’s success stories… so far!
Other recent Bachie couples haven’t been so lucky; just look at 2021’s Bachelorette, Brooke Blurton, who split from winner Darvid Garayeli just weeks after their finale aired.
Little is known about the specifics of their breakup, which Darvid dramatically announced in the first days of 2022, Brooke later confirming the news.
“It was definitely agreed to part ways. I just wanted to do it privately, amicably and respectfully,” she wrote on Instagram at the time.
While we doubt either of them will be rejoining the franchise any time soon, other Bachelor alums may be considering a return to the franchise.
Lauren Jenkins, who appeared early in Jimmy’s season of The Bachelor, commented on the new application post: “Lol take 2.”
She tagged fellow season 9 contestant Laura O’Loughlin in the comment, who replied: “Naaaaah if they want people to watch, they’ll wanna utilise my showmanship 🥸”
Belinda Robinson, from the same season, chimed in: “I’m not even watching if it’s not loz.”
Meanwhile Ashleigh Freckleton, who also appeared on Jimmy’s season, joked in a separate comment: “Imagine if I applied for something like that.”
Other comments included fans begging 10 not to cast any more “celebrities” on the show or joking about applying themselves.
In fact, some wanted to apply for the show not to find love, but just for the chance to “hang out” on the set.
“When are applications open for people who aren’t single or looking for love but would be keen to just come to the mansion and hang out?” read a comment from the Bachelor of Hearts podcast.
Honestly, we’d apply for that role in a heartbeat!
