The Bachelorette Matty J and Laura Byrne have finally addressed the rumours they had a secret wedding during a family trip to Bali last month, but you may not like what they said.
Opening up during an Instagram Q&A session on Wednesday night, the bride-to-be confirmed the secret wedding rumours were just that – rumours.
“I can confirm we are not married. That did not happen in Bali,” Laura revealed to the disappointment of many fans.
Matty chimed in: “No, we’re not married but when you look at how often we have sex it’s easy to think that we are.”
While he found his joke hilarious, Laura wasn’t impressed, shooting him an exasperated look before the video cut off.
The couple sparked wedding rumours when they jetted off to Bali with their two daughters in July and just happened to meet up with a slew of friends there.
That included Laura’s best mate and podcast co-host Brittany Hockley, their time together leading fans to believe she was the maid of honour at Laura and Matty J’s secret nuptials.
Though the couple played off the rumours with a cheeky Instagram post captioned “Just two kids who are most definitely not getting married in Bali” on July 17, fans weren’t convinced.
Not that their friends were much help in dispelling the rumours.
“Best wedding ever guys. Can’t believe you kept it a secret,” quipped former Bachelor Tim Robards.
“I paid 2 million rupiah to have a suit made from Indonesian linen. Please tell me you’re kidding,” added mate Mitch Churi.
Even Brittany joined in, joking: “YOU MEAN I CAME HERE FOR NOTHING!?”
Though they didn’t tie the knot in Bali, Matty and Laura will definitely be saying “I do” soon after years of postponements and COVID-19 delays.
Laura previously confirmed that they had set a date for late 2022 and that daughters Marlie-Mae and Lola will have special roles on the big day.
“By the end of the year, Lola will definitely be walking. I don’t know how much responsibility we can put on her to be a flower girl, but Marlie is going to be leading the charge,” Matty told Now To Love in March.
Fans are eagerly awaiting photos from the ceremony, which is sure to be splendid, but some want to see a bit more than Matty and Laura bargained for.
When one follower asked Laura if she and her husband-to-be would be interested in starting an OnlyFans account on Wednesday, her answer was totally candid.
“If you guys want to see behind the scenes of our relationship it will truly just be Matt farting and watching tiktok,” she laughed.
