When stepping out of the limo on the first night of The Bachelor, the ladies have no idea who they’re about to meet.
While some recognised Nick Cummins instantly, Juliana wasn’t one of them. In fact, she found the famous rugby star disappointing.
“I had no idea who he was,” Juliana, 30, tells TV WEEK.
“He was just a really tall bloke with a lot of curly hair.”
The school teacher and Bondi Rescue lifeguard says that on first impressions, Nick wasn’t her type.
“I was honestly disappointed,” she reveals. “He’s not the kind of guy I normally go for.”
It was an underwhelming start for Juliana, who was already hesitant to go on the reality show. But having been approached, she eventually decided to give it a try.
“I said no at first – it’s not my style,” Juliana recalls.
“To put me with a bunch of women chasing after one guy, I’m not competitive at all.”
Despite being used to the cameras, thanks to her time on Bondi Rescue, Juliana admits she was out of her comfort zone on The Bachelor.
“I really struggled with getting dressed up,” she explains. “I’m always in my swimmers. I walked into my first hair and make-up session barefoot with a plait in my hair and zinc [on my face].”
While there’s drama on The Bachelor, Juliana insists it’s nothing compared to a busy summer’s day on Bondi Beach.
“It’s always crazy,” she says of her job. “I answered the phone to a major incident during my first season. That was really horrific.”
Rough start aside, Juliana insists she has no regrets about going on the show.
“I’m so grateful to have done it,” she says.
The Bachelor Australia premieres Wednesday at 7:30pm on Network Ten.
