Before she was chasing a rose on The Bachelor, Emily was chasing her dreams of becoming a ballerina.
“I went to Miami and danced with the Miami City Ballet School,” Emily, 24, tells TV WEEK. “I got a scholarship to train there when I was 16.”
Then a heartbreaking injury cut her career short. When a stress fracture wreaked havoc on Emily’s ballet aspirations, her time in the sunny city came to a swift end.
“Every time I got injured, it took longer to recover, so I had to give it up,” she recounts. “It was the hardest time in my life.”
While she did return home to Canberra, she didn’t completely give up on her passion for dancing.
“It was devastating, but at that time I had to try something new,” Emily recalls. “So I tried Latin dancing and found another love.”
Having replaced her passion for ballet with Latin dancing, Emily is now looking for an ideal partner.
“I want to find someone amazing to share my life with,” Emily says.
So has she found it with Nick?
“He ticked all the boxes for me, so it’s very exciting,” she smiles.
Emily made an impression on the Bachie, scoring a rose in the premiere episode of The Bachelor Australia last night.
Though she didn’t score major screen time, she quickly showed herself to be a likeable character on the hit dating show.
Rather than freaking out about how well some of the other ladies had ‘connected’ to Nick, she simply showed encouragement.
She even told Brittany, who had a special connection with Nick because she was born in the same town and the same year, that maybe their love story was “meant to be.”
Keep doing you, Em!
The Bachelor Australia returns for its second episode tonight, where the first one-on-one date is set to send sparks flying. The rose ceremony also promises to be a bit intense, thanks to the first kiss.
The Bachelor Australia airs at 7:30pm on Network Ten.
