If there’s someone who can understand the pressure of maintaining a relationship that was forged on national television, it’s Angie Kent.
The Bachelorette star found love with Carlin Sterritt in the most recent season, while her Bachelor counterpart, Matt Agnew, picked Chelsie McLeod in his finale.
But while Angie and Carlin are so far still together, Matt and Chelsie called it quits just weeks after their final episode went to air.
And as she made an appearance alongside Carlin on Have You Been Paying Attention? on Monday night, Angie was asked her thoughts on the shock split by host Tom Gleisner,
Angie explained it must have been tricky for Matt and Chelsie to develop their relationship beyond The Bachelor mansion.
“Once you get out of the Bachie bubble, it’s up to you then to kind of create a connection and see how it goes, and it’s hardcore,” she said.
Over the weekend, both Matt and Chelsie took to Instagram to announce they had gone their separate ways.
“These past six months since filming have been a very unique experience,” Matt wrote.
“Chels and I have made some beautiful memories together that I’ll always cherish, and I wish her nothing but the absolute best.
“However, it’s with a heavy heart that I write this. For Chels and me, our relationship hasn’t translated from filming to the real, every day world as we had hoped.
“Chels is a very special woman and I want her to find the happiness she deserves.
“For those who may wonder if there’s someone else for me right now, there absolutely is not.
“It’s no one’s fault, it’s just life.”

Chelsie echoed a similar sentiment on her Instagram page, writing: “Matt showed me what it was like to be respected in a relationship and I am so thankful for that. However, it saddens me to say that we are no longer together.
“I wish him nothing but the best. I’m sorry to those that were invested in our relationship. Please remember to be kind online as you don’t know what is going on behind the screen. All my love.”
Following the couple’s split, Bachelor runner-up Abbie Chatfield was forced to ask fans to simmer down after they began contacting her, encouraging her to have another crack at a relationship with newly single Matt.
However, she shot the suggestions down.
“My contact with Matt ended when I walked away from him at finale, and I am very good friends with Chelsie and love her very much,” she wrote.
“These comments are unnecessary and aren’t helping anyone. I have nothing to do with their relationship or their breakup, so I’d appreciate it if I was left out of the conversation. Matt and Chels are great humans and I want them to both be happy.”
