When My Kitchen Rules champions Dan and Steph Mulheron return to the show’s 2020 season next month, fans will be forgiven for not recognising the married couple who took home $250,000 in 2013.
Indeed, much has changed for the duo since they last appeared on screen.
Not only did the MKR stars use their prize money to assist with IVF treatments that saw the birth of their daughter Emmy Mae in 2016, Dan has lost a monster 85kg!
Now, almost two years on from his life-changing decision to get a gastric sleeve, the father-of-one, 38, reveals he hopes to change the stigma around the procedure.
“There’s a lot of negative stigma around weight-loss surgery, a lot of people who haven’t had weight problems see it as a cop out,” says Dan, who maintains that the decision was by no means easy.

“When you’re a big person, every minute of the day you’re thinking about your weight.”
It took years of contemplation before Dan decided to go through with the surgery, with the reality star admitting if he hadn’t waited for the right time he’d have put the weight back on.”
“The decision to do that is huge – you have to want to change and there’s definitely nothing to hide,” says proud Steph, 37, who co-runs the couple’s restaurant in Hervey Bay in Queensland and has also undergone her own weight-loss transformation.
“I’ve got a new lease of life,” Dan reveals.
“Before, Emmy was always, ‘Daddy, let’s jump on the trampoline!’ and I’d have no enthusiasm or energy for her. Now, she’s like, ‘Oh, I’ve had enough Daddy.’ I run her ragged!”
