Hey siri, cue Hot and Cold by Katy Perry because a brand new season of MasterChef Australia is just around the corner!
Hosted by fan favourites Melissa Leong, Jock Zonfrillo and Andy Allen once more, the new season is sure to be filled to the brim with the best culinary talent Australia has to offer!
So where abouts is the new season set to be filmed (or should we say has ALREADY been been filmed)?
Just like previous seasons, the 2023 season of MasterChef: Secrets and Surprises will be filmed at Centenary Hall, Royal Melbourne Showgrounds.
Built in 1934, the hall has been kitted out to the max and now houses a fully functioning commercial kitchen, ”boucherie”, herb garden, locker room, wine reception area, 120 seat restaurant and pantry.
The venue has also been the site of a number of other television products as well, including Channel Nine’s Lego Masters and the improvisational comedy show Thank God You’re Here, which is set to be rebooted in the latter half of 2023.
In a 2019 exclusive interview with TV Week, contestants opened the doors to what life was like when they weren’t cooking for the judges.
In the MasterChef eastern Melbourne mansion located in Canterbury, contestants slept in five bedrooms, comprised of bunk beds!
Their home away from home also came with a gym and a state of the art kitchen where they cook meals for themselves and the production crew.
The home was comprised of six bedrooms, four bathrooms and was three levels.
But, in the 2022 season it looked like the family feel was no more with contestants move to serviced apartment accomodation, a source close to production telling Refinery29 that there were two contestants to an apartment.
The changes in accomodation type came into play during 2020 as coronavirus reared it’s ugly head, and has remained in place to this day.
