Jackson and Olivia

Olivia Frazer and Jackson Lonie may have gotten their fairytale ending, but their final vows weren’t without some harsh realities for the couple.

Jackson, who has struggled to cope with Olivia’s self-confessed “bitchy side”, confessed that he was apprehensive about moving forward.

“I need to be brutally honest with you. The way you have, at times responded to some of the challenges in the experiment and some of the snide comments that you have made along the way don’t sit well with me,” he told Olivia.

At their final sit-down with the experts, Jackson revealed he had moved from Melbourne to NSW to live with Olivia.

Four months after filming the finale, Jackson and Olivia were still going strong, posting regular loved up snaps of one another to their social media.

But ten months into the relationship, Jackson confirmed the pair had split, saying that they had ”drifted apart,” Olivia also confirming that it was a ”mutual decision” to end things.

Jack and Domenica

Jack Millar and Domenica Calarco instantly hit it off after meeting at the altar and quickly became Married At First Sight season nine’s fan favourites.

So it was little surprise when the couple decided to pursue their relationship in the real world following the final vows ceremony. While Domenica admitted she thought her feelings would be “stronger” by the eight-week mark, she said their connection was “too special to let go of”.

However, viewers were left shocked during the reunion dinner when Jack and Domenica announced they had broken up following the final vows.

The vows were filmed in November 2021, while the reunion was filmed in January 2022, meaning the relationship broke down in those weeks between filming.

Domenica and Jack revealed they were confused by what had gone wrong in the relationship after they’d left the show – with both admitting they still had feelings left to explore.

“It kind of fizzled – I don’t know what happened, and I’m left very confused,” Domenica told the producers of their split after the show.

However, at the final sit-down with the experts, Jack and Domenica said “never say never” when asked if they would get back together.

Then, throughout February and March, months after filming their final vows and the reunion dinner, Jack and Domenica appeared loved up in live appearances on the Today Show.

In the real world as of May 2022, Jack and Domenica are now close friends in a group with Ella Ding, Brent Vitiello, Al Perkins and Selina Chhaur, and the pair are regularly seen hanging out. On April 11, Domenica posted a photo of Jack kissing her cheek, captioned: “What a wild ride it’s been, couldn’t have done it without @jackomillar holding my hand 💖”

Ella and Mitch

Ella Ding and Mitch Eynaud were one of the strongest couples on the ninth season of MAFS, but the state of their relationship after filming left big question marks for fans.

Viewers were stunned in the final vows when Mitch shocked Ella by revealing he hadn’t made a decision over whether to move forward in their relationship.

He asked his bride for “patience” and said he would not be forced into making a decision about their romance at that point in time.

But just four weeks later at the reunion dinner, Mitch and Ella confirmed they were still together – making them look pretty solid.

The following night when speaking with the experts, Mitch said Ella was his girlfriend and the pair couldn’t have looked happier.

However, they went their separate ways just weeks after filming wrapped. There’s definitely no love lost between the pair, with Ella saying in April that Mitch is a “cold, commitment-phobe.”

Ella moved on with Brent Vitiello (who she split with only two months later in June 2022), whilst Mitch is single despite rumours of a brief connection with fellow MAFS bride Tamara Djordjevic.

Cody and Selina

Cody and Selina shocked viewers at their final vows by deciding to continue their relationship in the real world.

The pair were photographed together in January this year out in Selina’s hometown of Adelaide. Just a few days later, they rocked up to the reunion dinner party as a couple.

However, the following night during a reunion chat with the experts, Selina tearfully revealed Cody had broken up with her.

Tamara and Brent

After weeks of on-and-off squabbling, disagreements and insults, Brent and Tamara ultimately mutually decided to break up during their final vows.

Tamara slammed Brent after the episode aired – and it appears there’s definitely no love lost between the former couple.

“Brent, I guess he wanted to have his say, have the last word, carry on like a child, throw his cards on the ground and pretty much just a ‘f–k you’,” she told 9Now following the ceremony.

As of December 2022, the former husband and wife are not on speaking terms.

Al and Samantha

Sam was initially taken aback by Al’s immaturity on their wedding day, but the romance started to heat up in the half-way point of the experiment as she warmed to her new husband’s sense of humour.

In week three, things started to heat up and the pair took the next step in their slow-burning romance and finally became intimate.

But Sam couldn’t overcome Al’s lack of “emotional intelligence” and they eventually mutually decided to leave in the show’s second last commitment ceremony.

“It’s changed me for the better. I’m glad everything that happened has happened,” Al told Now To Love ahead of his departure from the show.

Since his departure from the show, Al made a surprise appearance on the 2022 season of Love Island, where he eventually left single (and rather lonely) once more.

Jess and Daniel

This season’s final intruder couple had one of the biggest rollercoasters of emotions during their wedding and honeymoon.

One minute they were bonding over the tragic losses of their siblings, and the next they were bickering about the legitimacy of their on-screen wedding, with Daniel doubting Jess’ intentions.

By the time the couple’s first commitment ceremony rolled around, they had reached their breaking point following a week of bickering. Jess wrote down “leave” but Daniel wanted to give their relationship another go and opted to stay, meaning both must remain in the experiment for another week.

But the following morning just moments after checking into their apartment, Jess told Daniel there was no going back for her, and she ended things for good. “From day dot I felt that extreme disconnection to you. I feel like it started before we even had issues. This is the perfect time to tell you that I’m leaving,” she told Daniel.

“It clearly isn’t working, and I’m not going to fake it and it’s never gonna work.”

Not long after, Daniel started a flirtation with co-star Carolina Santos and despite being denied to re-enter the experiment as a new couple, they’re still going strong.

Carolina and Dion

The second “intruder” couple to throw themselves into the chaos that is MAFS‘s ninth season was Carolina Santos and Dion Giannarelli, who made quite the splash on their wedding day.

The pair got off to a dramatic start when single mum Carolina kept businessman Dion and their guests waiting three hours at the altar following a “meltdown” over her hair and makeup.

Carolina initially left Dion waiting at their third commitment ceremony, before eventually rocking up arm-in-arm with Daniel.

Thankfully, Dion had already written “leave”, but that didn’t take away from his disgust after Carolina and Daniel requested to re-enter the experiment as a brand new couple.

The experts said they wouldn’t allow it, but it seems their relationship has flourished since the show anyway. Carolina and Daniel have been spotted looking loved-up several times at the airport and at bars around Sydney since filming wrapped.

Kate and Matt

They were the first intruders of season nine, but they couldn’t have gotten off to a more awkward start if they tried.

Matt was over the moon with his new bride, but Kate wasn’t as impressed with her match. “I think he just needs to put the brakes on a little. He’s liking me and I’m not giving that same energy back,” she told the cameras.

In the weeks that followed, Matt tried to win over Kate by buying her perfume and endlessly complimenting her. But his efforts were to no avail, and at their third commitment ceremony they both agreed to call it quits.

Holly and Andrew

When single dad Andrew married Holly, who’s yearning for a child of her own, we assumed they’d be a perfect match. But sadly their relationship came crashing down in the second week of the experiment following an explosive fight that saw Andrew threaten to leave the show.

At the second dinner party, Andrew managed to turn most of the group against Holly, who arrived separately. Selin and Anthony attempted to get the couple back on track but to no avail.

Andrew took his microphone off and stormed out, ending his time on the show and making him and Holly the first couple to leave the experiment.

At the third commitment ceremony, the single dad failed to show up, leaving Holly reading out a tearful letter alone in front of the group.

“I had been alone this entire journey and I came into the room hoping for support I hope I earned and I walked in the villain,” she said of her treatment at the dinner party.

Selin and Anthony

32-year-old single mother Selin and 38-year-old single father Anthony hit it off from the moment they met, and instantly had us gunning for them to fall in love.

But their romance quickly began to unravel on their honeymoon when Selin became turned off by Anthony’s vulnerability. By the time the first dinner party and move-in week rolled around, it was clear the couple were holding on by a thread.

The couple managed to survive the first two commitment ceremonies before both agreeing to leave in their third week of the experiment.
